see http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39 I think you can upgarding safely to 1.1.6fix4 and still using the same document. I use Redhat 7.2 and the ghostscript package ghostscript-6.51-17.i386.rpm with lyx 1.1.6fix4 and it works fine since I upgraded to this ghostscript version. Good luck Robert -Original Message- From: Martijn Brouwer [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: dinsdag 17 september 2002 21:23 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [graphics preview] known problem but... Hi, Included graphics is not shown in LyX with lyx 1.6-fix2. (I am still using 1.6 for an important document, that was created with 1.6). Searching docs an mailinglist archives learned that this was a bug in ghostscript that has been fixed in 6.53, so I have upgraded to 6.53. Now part of my pictures (Grace graphs) are shown, but more are not. LaTeX output is OK. When I open the usersguide, esher-lsd.eps is shown, platypus.eps is not. Has anybody a solution for this? In 1.2 preview works, but for this document I do not want to use 1.2 yet, it is too important and I would not like to break compatibility with 1.6. LyX 1.2 crashed a few times when scrolling through this document, complaining about memory, but I cannot reproduce this. Bye, Martijn
Re: Graphics in Lyx DocBook
José, Many thanks for your help. I can get things to work now. The sequence I use is at command line: lyx foo.lyx in Lyx: File-Export-DOCBOOK at command line: db2dvi foo.sgml followed by: dvips foo.dvi In Lyx if I try File-Export-PDF, db2dvi can't find the graphics file ( see lyx_graphics_errors.log (command line transcript) ). If I export DocBook SGML from Lyx and try db2pdf foo.sgml from the command line, I find that Jade can't cope with included EPS files ( but PDF is OK ) - see db2pdf_errors.log and graphics_test.log. Looking at graphics_test.log, graphics file-formats for db2pdf seems to be limited to .png,.pdf,.jpg,.mps,.tif . Obviously this isn't a Lyx problem, but certainly had me confused. The command db2dvi seems to cope with EPS with no problems. Thanks again for your help. I have a solution that works David José Abílio Oliveira Matos wrote: On Tuesday 17 September 2002 15:57, David Cussans wrote: Hi, I would like to use Lyx to output DocBook SGML. I have installed Lyx 1.2.1 on my RH 7.3 system and have the docbook tool-set installed I have the same toolchain. Creating a new document using the Docbook template works, and writing *text* works fine. Troubles start when I try to include graphics. Jade gives errors when processing the SGML produced by Lyx. I have attached a test Lyx file, the Docbook SGML produced by Lyx, and the error message produced by Jade. The attached file should fix it. The only change is that the paragraph where the figure is was changed from Standard to SGML. It is pretty easy to hand-edit the SGML to sort out the problem, but how do I get Lyx to produce the correct SGML in the first place? In addition Lyx does not produce an size attributes to the graphics element ( e.g. WIDTH, SCALE ) - which means that the figure must be the right size for the page, and won't be scaled. ( Mind you, jade seems to ignore size attributes in any case ). I have been lazy here. Since I usually don't have problems with scaling I never had the ouptut correct for it. The patch for it is simple and it spans few lines. I will send it to the list soon and propose it for inclusion for future 1.2.2 Another irritation is that the only file-format for graphics that seems to work with Jade is PDF - am I missing something obvious ? I don't know. I don't remember to have problems here. Does anybody know how include graphics in Docbook with Lyx? Cheers, David -- David Cussans University of Bristol, H.H. Support for listing package
Hello, LyX-users, does anybody know if the support for listings package has improved in 1.2.x or even in the forthcoming 1.3? I am beginning to use it in 1.1.6 and I have to apply lyx-code and TeX-mode to use lstlisting, and to be allowed to input free spaces, which is kind of annoying. I heard long ago about supporting this package, but I never knew what happened of it. If there is no change about it, how can I fill a feature request? TIA Pedro

RE: [graphics preview] known problem but...
see http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39 I think you can upgarding safely to 1.1.6fix4 and still using the same document.
TIA Pedro

When I write a document in any language (e.g. german) with a tabular in it and then I'm changing the language to another one (e.g. ngerman) the text inside the table will be remain in the old language. All of the other text will be converted to the new language. The underlined words in the table and the LaTeX code shows the usage of both languages instead of using only the new one. This behaviour is surely not the desired one. Is it fixed in newer versions? Greetings, Matthias.
lyx 1.2.1 on RedHat 6.2? How?
Has anyone succeeded in installing lyx 1.2.1 on Redhat 6.2? If so, exactly what RPMs were needed to satisfy the dependencies. I havem't been able to get 1.2.1 installed on my 6.2 system. RE: [graphics preview] known problem but...
see http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39 I think you can upgarding safely to 1.1.6fix4 and still using the same document. I use Redhat 7.2 and the ghostscript package ghostscript-6.51-17.i386.rpm with lyx 1.1.6fix4 and it works fine since I upgraded to this ghostscript version. Re: Graphics in Lyx "DocBook"
José, Many thanks for your help. I can get things to work now. The sequence I use is at command line: lyx foo.lyx in Lyx: "File->Export->DOCBOOK" at command line: db2dvi foo.sgml followed by: dvips foo.dvi In Lyx if I try "File->Export->PDF", db2dvi can't find the graphics file ( see lyx_graphics_errors.log (command line transcript) ). If I export DocBook SGML from Lyx and try "db2pdf foo.sgml" from the command line, I find that Jade can't cope with included EPS files ( but PDF is OK ) - see db2pdf_errors.log and graphics_test.log. Looking at graphics_test.log, graphics file-formats for db2pdf seems to be limited to .png,.pdf,.jpg,.mps,.tif . Obviously this isn't a Lyx problem, but certainly had me confused. The command "db2dvi" seems to cope with EPS with no problems. Thanks again for your help. Pb with ERT
Hello I have a problem with the new Lyx version (1.2.0 or 1.2.1) on RedHat 7.3. All is working well...except the ERT mode: I can't convert a selected word in TeX mode ; it just open a new ERT box after the selected part of text. This was not the case on previous versions. What is the problem and its solution ? Thank you very much Olivier Meplan

TIA Pedro

Maybe you should try a search on http://www.rpmfind.net for the packages your supposed to need If they don't install because you have newer packages installed follow instructions on the first link Hope this helps/works Tino van Uffelen
changing language does not apply to tables
Hello! When I write a document in any language (e.g. "german") with a tabular in it and then I'm changing the language to another one (e.g. "ngerman") the text inside the table will be remain in the old language.
