Using Lyx with Xetex and french accents
Dear All, I am using Lyx 1.5.6. I followed the instructions on the wiki to make it works with Xetex (included in MikTex 2.7). I did this because I wanted to use the Garamond fonts already installed on my system rather than installing them in LaTex which is more complicated. The problem is that when I write something in french the accents are missing on the output document. It's rather surprising because I choose french as the document language in the parameters and it never happened when using LaTex. Should I use a special package when I use XeTex? Thank you in advance for your help, Nicolas
Bug in LyX 1.6.0rc?
When I open a document (any help file will do) and click on table of contents box the catalog sidebar opens but is empty. I have to select something else to show from the drop menu, e.g. list of graphics, then table of contents again and everything works ok. This concerns LyXWinInstaller, both rc1 and rc2. I'm running on WinXP SP3. - Juha

If you'd use 'our' /debian/ direrctory to build the package you'd end up with a lyx-common package aswell so there must have been changes to the packaging. (missing the source package here as usual, even an added backdoor has to be GPL'ed) So let's go on to the stupid part in this package. As you can read above this package depends on parts of the boost libs as it would happen if you use the /debian/ dir from Debian or Ubuntu. $ ar x lyx-1.5.6-1~hardy_i386.deb $ tar zxf data.tar.gz $ ldd usr/bin/lyx|grep boost $ Hm. So if you're a user of Ubuntu and you're constantly searching for 3rd party packages you should thinks twice. If you're the packager please go back to your workplace repackage with a sane /debian/ directory. Now. Afterwards publish a sane _source_ and binary package. Thanks. Add abstract to TOC
Hello, I'm writing my dissertation in the document class I wish the abstract, lists of tables/figures appendix to be listed in the TOC according to my dissertation guidelines. I've tried using this: \usepackage[nottoc,notbib]{tocbibind} as suggested in the FAQ but this omits the abstract and appendix. I also tried adding \addcontentsline{toc}{chatpter}{Abstract} to the abstract page but I get an error message. Finally, I'm required to insert a word count at the foot of the TOC page, does anyone know how this can be done? Thank you so much for helping ... -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Add-abstract-to-TOC-tp832275p832275.html Sent from the LyX - Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: pdfpages and filenames
This problem has been previously reported as bug 1751 http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1751 when i looked at the tex file created in /tmp i found \makeatletter [EMAIL PROTECTED]/Users/my/path//}} \makeatother Note the double // at the end. That seemed odd to me. If I go back to my lyx file and put in the preamble \makeatletter [EMAIL PROTECTED]/Users/my/path}} \makeatother with no // at the end, then everything works fine again and I can use relative paths in the includepdf command So it seems like something in the LyX code is producing the // in the path command? I am using LyX/Mac 1.5.5 with tex-live 2007 The preamble definition is an easier workaround since you only need the full path once.

If I export to latex and compile outside of lyx the \includepdf{myfile} works fine. Any way to just use \includepdf{myfile} in LyX 1.5.5? thanks steve

When I open a document (any help file will do) and click on "table of contents" box the catalog sidebar opens but is empty. I have to select something else to show from the drop menu, e.g. list of graphics, then table of contents again and everything works ok. This concerns LyXWinInstaller, both rc1 and rc2. I'm running on WinXP SP3. - Juha

Re: Re: Re: old questions: no error message
If I open lyx with "lyx -dbg any". When I export the document to plainlatex file, the following messages (just the end) are found in the console. SimpleTeXOnePar... 02445720 SimpleTeXOnePar...done 02445720 makeLaTeXFile...done Finished making LaTeX file. Row count was 1587. File 'C:/Documents and Settings/wangyq/Local Settings/Temp/lyx_tmpdir5460a05916/ lyx_tmpbuf0/creditrisk.tex' was not closed properly. 2008-09-01 wangyq 发件人: wangyq 发送时间: 2008-09-01 22:08:21 收件人: LyX 抄送: 主题: Re: Re: old questions: no error message My OS is winxp. Lyx works well if the document is a simple hello-world. So I don't think the problem is due to uncorrect installation of latex. There must be some grammar errors in the document. But the document is too long, I cannot deteck the locations. 2008-09-01 wangyq 发件人: Jürgen_Spitzmüller 发送时间: 2008-09-01 21:42:02 收件人: lyx-users 抄送: 主题: Re: old questions: no error message wangyq wrote: > Why not let lyx output error messages? Thanks
Thanks-- I installed 1.5.6, and although it complained of a conflict with lyx-common 1.5.5, after removing lyx-common and reinstalling lyx 1.5.6, everything seems to work. thanks for the help!
Add abstract to TOC
Hello, I'm writing my dissertation in the document class I wish the abstract, lists of tables/figures & appendix to be listed in the TOC according to my dissertation guidelines.

Re: letter (KOMA 2) - Error: unknown KOMA option
Am 01.09.2008 um 16:04 schrieb Jürgen Spitzmüller: You are using KOMA-script version 2.97, right? If so, either upgrade to version 2.98 Sorry, I tried to find out the version by searching "koma-script" files and directories - getting a lot beneath /usr ... /texmf and home- /library .../lyx - and opened some files in a text editor, but I gave up to find the relevant version number. Is there a command line code to get it? (Or in which file I have to search it?) Jürgen Spitzmüller: insert \KOMAoptions {fromalign=center, fromrule=aftername, fromphone=true, fromfax=true, frome mail=true, fromurl=true} => That worked immediately, thank you for the advice, Jürgen! With some other templates I had similar error abruptions. Which ones? I could have sworn to have got the same or very similar message with otheer LyX-Templates, but this is not the case. But there are others such like: The layout file requested by this document, aa.layout, is not usable. This is probably because a LaTeX class or style file required by it is not available. also with agu-dtd.layout, docbook.layout, ijmpc.layout, ijmpd.layout, iopart.layout (iop-article), latex8.layout. With g-brief.layout it is: "latex Error: Command \Telefon already defined." and \newcommand\Telefon{\mvchr{84}} Your command was ignored. Type I to replace it with another command, or to continue without it. => But from LyX one cannot do that, even if one (not me) knew the right command. Or, opening in Lyx, but when typesetted saying: "revtex.sty not found" and: \renewcommand {\usepackage}{\RequirePackage}^^M *** (cannot \read from terminal in nonstop modes) I don't expect to get the explanation and solution for all these disfuntioning Lyx-Templates in my installation, and in case I want to use one of these templates I'll come back and ask specifically. I have TexLive 2007 installed with MacTex, might be that LyX 1.5.6 is not exactly build and configured for that? Greetings, joachim

LyX 1.6
Is LyX 1.6 going to be able to use files made by LyX 1.6? Lou

If I export to latex and compile outside of lyx the \includepdf{myfile} works fine. Any way to just use \includepdf{myfile} in LyX 1.5.5? thanks steve
