Re: need advice about html to latex conversion

2009-03-02 Thread Hubert Christiaen
I have been using html2latex intensively in the process of converting wiki
text to latex. I had to adapt it for accepting sub- and superscripts, for
treating a name=... and a href=... tag and for treating the math tag
as it exists in a wiki text. Moreover, it expects its input in ISO-8859-1,
but greek entities, as alpha;, are translated to UTF-8. So I first
translated this to mathematical entities:math\alpha/math. But if you
want ot give it a try, I can send you my version of the latex.pm script.

Sincerely,
Hubert

Yes. (Or an unsupported feature: missing support for the upquote listings

I guess the solution is to manually put the usepackage command before

Hello, I don't have any answers, but I have some questions for you.. I
have an interest because I have been using LyX with Sweave a long
time, but have not yet needed a beamer Sweave.

I've only spent 40 minutes looking at your case. I don't know what a
fragile frame is for, but I'll go read more about it.

The problem is obviously that you have an error in the latex macros in
your layout file. Trying to find where those problems might be is,
well, difficult (since I don't see why you care about changing the
frame, mainly).

On Mon, Mar 2, 2009 at 1:53 AM, Rainer M Krug r.m.k...@gmail.com wrote:

and I implemented the laypout file as suggested, but changed it, based
on the BeamerUserGuide.pdf 3.13 Verbatim Text, tho include a fragile
frame and a verbatim environment (see layout file attached).

But there must be something wrong: when I try to compile the attached
lyx file, it gives an error message ()\\i the LaTeX log:

I've downloaded your test case on my Ubuntu Linux 8.1 system and I can
confirm that your fragile frame environment causes the compile to
fail. Here's one way to try and figure what is going on. Instead of
using the LyX Layout approach, just write ERT in your lyx document. If
that DOES work, then you have good information because it means the
fragile frame will work. Then concentrate on the LyX layout.

I suppose it would help if we had a tex file with the fragile frame in
use, so we could compare the working tex against the tex that LyX
creates.

With the existing Layout file you provide, you can see a bit more
about where this is going wrong if you export the LyX document to TeX
format. Then we could compare that TeX file with a working tex file.
The file LyX creates will default to batchmode, but you can edit that
tex file and erase line 1, the batchmode line. After that, you can
run latex or pdflatex on the tex file to see what happens.

From looking at that tex file, it appears to me there is a mismatch in
the frame begin and end markers. Here's a snip

\lyxframeend{}\lyxfragileframe{Slide 1}

\includegraphics{beamertest-001}

\lyxframeend{}\lyxframe{Slide 2}

Note that your Layout causes a \lyxframeend to be inserted, then a
\lyxfragileframe, but there is no \lyxfragileframeend, only
\lyxframeend. Do you think that is related to the trouble?

Here are some latex errors I see when I run that through. I believe
the first one is superficial, but the second is more serious.

I have a LyX math book in the works. It is in landscape format so I can
show wide page sized graphics -- PDF files (generated by gnuplot and
converted to PDF by AquaTerm).

The output book file (using pdflatex) shows only part of the graphic.
Nothing I have tried has convinced LyX to show the whole plot/graphic.

Could someone help me -- off list perhaps -- get LyX to display the
entire graphic?

I would like to send the PDF file but it is 400KB and I did not want to
do that to the list.

Actually, of course, I have a whole bunch of such PDFs to display and
can't even get the first one working right.

From looking at that tex file, it appears to me there is a mismatch in

When I change from Frame (fragile) to Frame, it compiles, but when
setting one echo=TRUE, it does not as it is not in verbtim. If I
set the environment of the ERT to Verbatim, it still does not compile.

 What am I missing?

Yes. (Or an unsupported feature: missing support for the "upquote" listings
setting.)

This should at least be documented, so please file a bug report.

Or to set the "upquote" listings setting in the LaTeX preamble (no need
to move all other settings there too).

It seems your problem is too specific to find a solution from the

[math] system of equations errors

Many of the cells are empty.
After saving the .lyx, and on clicking on the dvi or pdf icon, I get this error
repeated 27 times:

The description of 1 of those errors is:

You have given more \span or & marks than there were
in the preamble to the \halign or \valign now in progress.
So I'll assume that you meant to type \cr instead.

After this, a DVI of PDF viewer fails to appear. In other cases, it works.

If i lauch lyx my_docuemtns.lyx in the console, i get a long sequence of

and
"Counter section does not exist."

Thanks very much in advance...

I have a book in German, English and French. The languages are set in Lyx

The literature list in tools is natbib and author-year
The settings in the bibtex-produced references at the end of the document is

I am using a jabref produced bib-file for the references.

I get in the book aut1 aut2 (2008) or aut1 et al. (2009) in the German,

What I would like to get is either

How would I achieve it?

For natbib, probably the mentioned makebst interface to babelbib (last
paragraph) is most relevant for you.

Additionally, biblatex provides excellent babel support.

>or, in all cases <&> instead of und, and or et

make a copy of your apalike.bst, open the copy with a text editor, serach and
replace the relevant strings.

You won't have much fun with it anyway as the functionality is...
"not exactly overwhelming".

Having said that, it should pick up maple if a binary (or script)
called 'maple' is in your $PATH.

i think the main problem here is that the reporter was not inside math mode(?).

Then you have done something wrong when creating the formula. When you send a _small_ LyX example

Re: Usinr Sweave / noweb in BEamer presentation

2009-03-02 Thread Paul Johnson
Hello, I don't have any answers, but I have some questions for you.. I
have an interest because I have been using LyX with Sweave a long
time, but have not yet needed a beamer Sweave.

I've only spent 40 minutes looking at your case. I don't know what a
fragile frame is for, but I'll go read more about it.

The problem is obviously that you have an error in the latex macros in
your layout file. Trying to find where those problems might be is,
well, difficult (since I don't see why you care about changing the
frame, mainly).
