Using 1.6 instead did not help.

I have made a minimal example:

I run it like this with LyX 1.6.3 on vista64:

1) From master run master-buffer-update pdf2.
2) From master run buffer-view pdf2.
3) Click each of the child document and choose edit (opens in a new tab).
4) Choose child2, write some text and execute master-buffer-update pdf2.

Now when I look in the previewer the updates made in child2 are not visible.

If I do the same thing for child1 the updates are visible. Its seems that
its only child2 thats disconnected. I have tried adding a child3 after
child2 and it gets updated correctly too.

Now here comes the wierd part. If I type '½' using the keyboard button in

typically only works the first time.

I have been able to reproduce this error on my desktop PC/vista64, my

As Steve says, be sure to include LaTeX code in the preamble for
chapauthor; the layout file only tells LyX how to display it in the GUI,
not how to get it into the output.

You have at least three options:

a. Just put chapauthor in the preamble and skip the layout, then use
ERT (raw LaTeX) to invoke the chapauthor environment as needed (i.e.,
put \begin{chapauthor} and \end{chapauthor} in ERT as needed). LyX will
not display the chapter authors in what you see is almost what you get
mode, but they'll be in the output (charitably assuming your LaTeX code
works).

b. Create a layout file for your version of the book class by hacking
the existing book.layout file and adding your new environment.

c. Create a chapauthor module that contains the layout. This has the
potential advantage that you can add it to any document that understands
what a chapter is (option b is restricted to documents using the basic
book class).

As to where to put it, I gather you're on a Unix-like system. LyX
should already have created ~/.lyx for you, and it should contain a
folder named ~/.lyx/layouts. If not, look at Help About LyX and see
where your user directory is hiding. Whether it's a full layout or a
module, I would park it there and then reconfigure LyX.

Incidentally, are you sure you want chapauthor to have LatexType
Environment rather than Command? I don't know how you're implementing
it, but my first thought would be to insert the author as an argument to
a command (not that I'm a TeXpert).

OCP95 is the bib-key of my cited reference
I do not know what {305} indicates.
{13.4.2} is the subsection

Does this mean, the error (citation OCP95) is between the subsection 13.4.2
header and figure 13.58? And 305? Number of lines after the header?

As to where to put it, I gather you're on a Unix-like system. LyX

folder named ~/.lyx/layouts. If not, look at Help About LyX and see

LyX miss breakatwhitespace for listings, a bug?

Could somebody explain the following error message:

1349 is probably the line in the tex-file
OCP95 is the bib-key of my cited reference
I do not know what {305} indicates.
{13.4.2} is the subsection

Does this mean, the error (citation OCP95) is between the subsection 13.4.2

No, it was a *.lyx file that was completely filled by NUL characters
and a backup file that was partially ok and ended with a block of
NUL chars, too, both together in a .rar archive.

So that was not "compression of the document", but "compression for
transport", and that's completely fine in my opinion.

Re: Child document not updated

2009-06-20 Thread bigblop

Using 1.6 instead did not help.

I have made a minimal example:

http://37133.vs.webtropia.com/apache2-default/test.zip

I run it like this with LyX 1.6.3 on vista64:

1) From master run master-buffer-update pdf2.
2) From master run buffer-view pdf2.
3) Click each of the child document and choose edit (opens in a new tab).
4) Choose child2, write some text and execute master-buffer-update pdf2.

Now when I look in the previewer the updates made in child2 are not visible.

If I do the same thing for child1 the updates are visible. Its seems that
its only child2 thats "disconnected". I have tried adding a child3 after
child2 and it gets updated correctly too.

Now here comes the wierd part. If I type '½' using the keyboard button in
child2 and then run master-buffer-update pdf2 it gets updated! Though it
typically only works the first time.

I have been able to reproduce this error on my desktop PC/vista64, my
laptop/winXP and on another machine running Ubuntu 9.04.

Any ideas appreciated!

Hi Tad,

It goes in a layout file, and be sure to define the LaTeX routine chapauthor
in the layout file too. Getting LyX to recognize layout files can get tricky,
so I've written a no-fail sure fire layout document here:

Lyx converts all bitmaps to EPS, why?

Has anyone know what could be a reason why LyX 1.6.3 converts all my

In temp dir, the .tex file contains references to .eps files. Pdflatex
complains.

Any advice? I do not have converters defined for JPG and PNG to EPS. :-(
