This is no error. You should still be able to compile the file as PDF.
The reason for this is that tex2lyx is not yet able to reimport commands

Re: including a Sweave/R code chunk in a LyX table cell

Thanks Julien and Rob,

Rob Oakes wrote:

Hi Ricardo,

Sweave in LyX 2.0 works a little different. Instead of being relegated
to a single document class, it has instead been implemented as a module.
The upside is that you can now use Sweave with any document class and
with any LaTeX variant (my personal favorite class is the Tufte
Handout). This wasn't possible in LyX 1.6 (or, I should say, it was
possible but much more difficult).

But before you can use the module, you need to add it to your document.
This is done from the Document-Settings-Modules pane. Once the pane
is loaded, simply scroll down to Sweave and add it to your dodcument.
Then click on Ok or Apply.

Once you have done this, a couple of new inset options should appear in
the Inset-Custom menu. If you have any problems, go ahead and shoot me
an email.

I'm afraid I am facing some kind of problem here. I've downloaded the
2.0 alfa release and installed in on an MacPro running Mac OS X 10.6.3
and on top of a LyX 1.6.5 installation running fine.

First of all, please, after copying the new LyX to Applications, must I
perform some new action before using the new release? I am afraid I am
missing some basic step due to my lack of understanding of the whole
system. The new *.dmg doesn't content any install file to configure LyX
on a per user basis.

Without doing any other step, if I create a new document and go to
DocumentSettingsModules and try to add Sweave module, LyX crashes. I
am nevertheless able to add other modules like Braille or EndNote.

Please, does this make any sense for you? Thanks!

All the best,

Habt ihr da eine Lösung? Das wär unglaublich toll.

Re: divide a bibliography in chapters

2010-05-10 Thread Rob Oakes
Hi Emme,

To do this, you need to use a bibtex style that supports divisions.
Some months ago, I started putting together a LaTeX class and modified
CV bibtex style that can handle this. For more information, see:

http://blog.oak-tree.us/index.php/2009/11/25/latex-cv-part1

For instructions on how to create a sectioned CV bibliography, see:

http://blog.oak-tree.us/index.php/2009/12/02/latex-cv-part3

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email or respond to
the group. While there will be a part 4 to this particular series that
describes how to use the classes in conjunction with LyX, I have not yet
had time to finish the write-up. I will post it as soon as it is
finished.

Cheers,

What does not work (complete file

What works though (complete file

text
   xml:space=preserve

style=font-size:12px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;fill:#00;fill-opacity:1;stroke:none;font-family:Sans;-inkscape-font-specification:Sans

style=-inkscape-font-specification:Sans;font-family:Sans;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;font-stretch:normal;font-variant:normalSample

text for demonstration/tspan/text

I used Inkscape 0.47 opened the file changed the font, changed it back and
saved. I seems I created the svg which is not working with inkscape 0.46.

Does anybody understand if the first version is technically not correct?

Does the pdf look better then ?

Yes, it does.

Not really.

However, there is a chance that Inkscape converts (a part of) the SVG to
a bitmap in order to keep transparency (not supported by PDF).
This is configurable (via the export options), maybe the default
changed?

Just one thought, make sure that there is a copy of Sweave.sty installed

I perform some new action before using the new release? I am afraid I
am missing some basic step due to my lack of understanding of the
whole system. The new *.dmg doesn't content any install file to
configure LyX on a per user basis.

The maintainer of the mac version has changed, so I cannot say for sure
what changes he did the the packaging. In any case, you could try to run
LyXReconfigure, which should not hurt...

Without doing any other step, if I create a new document and go to
DocumentSettingsModules and try to add Sweave module, LyX crashes. I
am nevertheless able to add other modules like Braille or EndNote.

This is bad. However, I do not see where it comes from. Do you have
messages in the console (launch Console.app and look for messages that
may come from LyX).

Frage zur Formelnummerierung

2010-05-10 Thread susew...@gmail.com
Hallo,

Re: divide a bibliography in chapters

2010-05-10 Thread Rob Oakes
Hi Emme,

To do this, you need to use a bibtex style that supports divisions.
Some months ago, I started putting together a LaTeX class and modified
CV bibtex style that can handle this. For more information, see:

http://blog.oak-tree.us/index.php/2009/11/25/latex-cv-part1

For instructions on how to create a sectioned CV bibliography, see:

http://blog.oak-tree.us/index.php/2009/12/02/latex-cv-part3

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email or respond to
the group. While there will be a part 4 to this particular series that
describes how to use the classes in conjunction with LyX, I have not yet
had time to finish the write-up. I will post it as soon as it is
finished.

Cheers,

LyX and SVG

Hello,

What do you use to render the svg? In Inkscape it looks rendered properly...

Also in firefox and konqueror the svg looks ok.

You address the right issue though it remains confusing for me:

What does not work (complete file

What works though (complete file

text
   xml:space=preserve

style=font-size:12px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;fill:#00;fill-opacity:1;stroke:none;font-family:Sans;-inkscape-font-specification:Sans

 y=114.67273

style=-inkscape-font-specification:Sans;font-family:Sans;font-weight:normal;font-style:normal;font-stretch:normal;font-variant:normalSample

text for demonstration/tspan/text

I used Inkscape 0.47 opened the file changed the font, changed it back and
saved. I seems I created the svg which is not working with inkscape 0.46.

Does anybody understand if the first version is technically not correct?

Does the pdf look better then ?

Yes, it does.

Thanks,
Rainer

Not really.

However, there is a chance that Inkscape converts (a part of) the SVG to
a bitmap in order to keep transparency (not supported by PDF).
This is configurable (via the export options), maybe the default
changed?

Hi Ricardo,

Just one thought, make sure that there is a copy of Sweave.sty installed
in your LaTeX path (and make sure that LyX can find it). I was having
some troubles with Sweave and LyX 2.0 on Mac a while ago, and this is
what ultimately fixed it.

But, to be honest, I haven't really played with LyX 2.0 on my Mac
recently. I've been on a book deadline and it just felt to unstable to
any real work. On Linux, though, it's been very reliable.

This is done from the Document->Settings->Modules pane. Once the pane
is loaded, simply scroll down to Sweave and add it to your dodcument.
Then click on "Ok" or "Apply".

Once you have done this, a couple of new inset options should appear in
the Inset->Custom menu. If you have any problems, go ahead and shoot me
an email.

I'm afraid I am facing some kind of problem here. I've downloaded the
2.0 alfa release and installed in on an MacPro running Mac OS X 10.6.3

First of all, please, after copying the new LyX to Applications, must I
perform some new action before using the new release? I am afraid I am
missing some basic step due to my lack of understanding of the whole
system. The new *.dmg doesn't content any install file to configure LyX

The maintainer of the mac version has changed, so I cannot say for sure
what changes he did the the packaging. In any case, you could try to run
LyX>Reconfigure, which should not hurt...

Hi Emme,

To do this, you need to use a bibtex style that supports divisions.
Some months ago, I started putting together a LaTeX class and modified
CV bibtex style that can handle this. For more information, see:

LyX and SVG

2010-05-10 Thread Rainer Dorsch
Hello,

I was following

http://wiki.lyx.org/Tips/UseInkscapeSVGImages

to setup lyx 1.6.5 with svg support (happy to read that 1.6.6 will support it
out of the box).

For some reason I get the svg's converted in bitmaps, when I include them in
pdf. Is that expected?

Here is an example:

http://bokomoko.de/~rd/lyxsvgtest/

This is the pdf I get

http://bokomoko.de/~rd/lyxsvgtest/test.pdf

The test.svg file already looks bitmapped. After removing
"font-family:Sans;", the svg is rendered properly.

Does the pdf look better then ?

How to number equations is described in sec. 19 "Formula Numbering" of

What do you use to render the svg? In Inkscape it looks rendered properly...

Also in firefox and konqueror the svg looks ok.

You address the right issue though it remains confusing for me:

What does not work (complete file
http://bokomoko.de/~rd/lyxsvgtest/drawing.svg ) :

Sample text for demonstration

What works though (complete file
http://bokomoko.de/~rd/lyxsvgtest/drawing3.svg ) :

Sample

text for demonstration

I used Inkscape 0.47 opened the file changed the font, changed it back and
saved. I seems I created the svg which is not working with inkscape 0.46.

Does anybody understand if the first version is technically not correct?

> Does the pdf look better then ?

Yes, it does.

Thanks,
Rainer

Trouble viewing DVI

2010-05-10 Thread Dean Chandler

I am new to lyx.

I installed version 1.6.5 on Ubuntu 8.04 Linux, then opened the tutorial.
When I tried to view the Tutorial as DVI, I got the following message
for each of several .png objects in the document:

An error occurred whilst running python -tt
'/usr/local/share/lyx/lyx2lyx/lyx2lyx'

Warning: Invalid LyX file.
Warning: Quiting.
Error: Cannot convert file

What should I do?

Dean

Not really.

However, there is a chance that Inkscape converts (a part of) the SVG to
a bitmap in order to keep transparency (not supported by PDF).
This is configurable (via the export options), maybe the default
changed?

For me, both are bitmapped in IE.

For starters, do you have both ImageMagick and Ghostscript installed?

This is bad. However, I do not see where it comes from. Do you have
messages in the console (launch Console.app and look for messages that
may come from LyX).

Sorry, I've not been able to regain access to the concerned box until

I've installed MacTeX (as per section 2.2 at

Re: including a Sweave/R code chunk in a LyX table cell

2010-05-10 Thread Rob Oakes

Cheers,

Rob

Yes, Ghostscript & Imagemagick are installed.

Also, I have qt4-dev installed.

The problem occurs both with Lyx 1.5.3, from the Ubuntu repository and
with 1.6.5, which I downloaded from lyx.org and compiled. There were no
errors in the compilation. Could I be missing some file converter?
