Re: How to place a figure's caption below the figure?
Hi again, I got forth a bit in the meanwhile. The caption package obviously is not intended for specifying caption placement. For latex I found several notes, saying the caption placement is controlled by the placement of the \caption command. What I still wasn't able to find out is: How can I configure where/how lyx places the \caption command? Help is very appriciated. Thank you in advance, Clemens

Re: How to place a figure's caption below the figure?
Clemens, you had troubles with the caption's location because you inserted the picture inside the caption. Look at the revised test file I enclose below for correct placement (and take a look at the documentation, especially the embedded objects manual in the Help menu). I uploaded a minimal example file to: http://93.83.133.214/lyxtest.tar.gz As can be seen, the caption is added at the left iff there is enough place left, otherwise its located at the top (I would prefer it to be placed at the bottom). Furthermore, Lyx (2.0.5, Linux) behaves quite strange when writing the text which belongs to the caption. Some words are placed before the graphic, some of it after. Guess my way of adding text to the caption is just not the way it is intended? Hi stefano, you had troubles with the caption's location because you inserted the picture inside the caption. Of course, now Lyx' behaviour makes a lot of sence ;) Thanks a lot for your suggestions, now I was able to configure everything to fit my requirements. Look at the revised test file I enclose below for correct placement Thanks! (and take a look at the documentation, especially the embedded objects manual in the Help menu). I have to admit, I hadn't have a look at the integrated help, will do so. The information on the net wasn't too helpful. Thank you again, Clemens
