John, you are on Ubuntu 16.04 and you have Qt 4.5? How did you do that?
Why do you think your Qt version is 4.5? Does LyX tell you that or
apt-cache policy?

I hope we can figure this out for you,

4.5 is really old, and although LyX should work with it in principle it is
not well tested. Somehow I cannot believe that the ppa contains packages for
such an old version, but Liviu will know more.

On ubuntu you would have to install package "libqt4-svg" too. Something
appropriate on your system should do.

2016-06-01 Thread John Kane
I installedl from what I believe is a prepackaged binary from Liviu
Andronic's stable PPA
which I have used before.

My installed version of qt is qt4.5 which if I am reading the release notes
correctly should be okay.

Thanks

LyX 2.2.0 requires a qt with SVG support compiled in (as mentioned in
RELEASE_NOTES). This looks like your qt does not have proper SVG support.
Which qt version are you using? Did you compile from source or install some
prepackaged binary?

Thx Jürgen. Although I understand that "finger painting" is a no-no in
Lyx/LaTeX, the separator layout help me deal with consecutive "Fragile
Frames" in Beamer. A necessary casualty, I guess.

See RELEASE_NOTES (Help > About LyX):

* The --Separator-- layout has been removed in favor of an environment
separator inset. There is no provision for inserting this inset from
the GUI (though some menu entries use it) as it is automatically
inserted
when needed. See Section 3.4.6 of the User Guide for details.

Separator environment

2016-06-01 Thread Julio Rojas
Dear all,

I am working on an old Beamer presentation on Lyx 2.2.0 / Ubuntu 14.04 and
the Separator environment does not appear from the options. Was it removed?
Can somebody check this out?

The old separators are there, although they are not shown as such, but as a
double strike horizontal line in a standard environment.

There's a section in Abstract.lyx marked as German.

2- with biblatex_biber I do not get the bibliography in the pdf
printout.
What has to be done

Have you checked two simple examples from
http://wiki.lyx.org/BibTeX/Biblatex

Do they work? Do you have biber installed? All three engines (bibtex,
bibtex8, biber) work for me on linux, people had some issues with
biber on other OS.

Philipp,
I checked the http://wiki.lyx.org/BibTeX/Biblatex examples, both work.
So biber should work.
But classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_biber does not produce the
References in the pdf output (the page stays empty) and gives no error
message for it (there is an error "unknown float option 'H' -ignored, p
used - which is unimportant for me).
The classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_bibtex example works and produces
the References in the output.
Could you or somebody else kindly check whether
classicthesis-LyX-v4.2_biblatex_biber works?
Wolfgang

You're on Linux right? I'm not sure of the best way to remove it. We
don't have an uninstall target (i.e. you can't do "make uninstall").

We do (at least with autotools). Simply call

make uninstall

from the rc1 build directory. If installation needed root privileges, then
this needs root privileges as well.

Good to know. Sorry for the misinformation, Wolfgang. I based my answer
on the targets created by cmake.

But with cmake we can use packages. Uninstalling is just as easy as using 'dpkg
--purge' or 'rpm -e'.
