inserting a truncated postscript file

2000-06-14 Thread C.Friedrich

The following is probably more a question about how tex deals with
postscript-files.

I want to insert a figure, which is cut out of a postscript-fit, simply by
changing the parameters of the "Boundary Box" in the postscript source.
The figure is placed correctly, but the cut out portion shows up regardless
(and mixes quite nastily with the rest of the page).

I still use lyx 1.0.4.

Perhaps someone can give me a hint.

(Another thing: A lot has been written about wrapping text around figures. The
package "wrapfig" workes very fine for me, whereas "floatflt" and "picinpar"
are far from flawless imho.)

This can be done with ERT. Export the LyX file to LaTeX and look at the
commands for including that figure. Copy them into the LyX file as ERT,
then change the \includegraphics{... command to \includegraphics*{...
You lose the WYSIWYM, but at least it does the right thing. LyX should
have a button to do this automatically, and we keep being promised that
stuff like this will be added when figinset.C is rewritten (hint, hint).

Seems to depend on the figure and the text. I've had mixed success with
all of the above - and I wrote the docs. No matter what, you have to be
prepared to do some tinkering to make this work. Maybe a few more words
are necessary ... :-)
