There's been a mail from LGB that the university hosting the system is
switching to some new/different hardware and upgrading the operating system.

Hi, I would refer to LyX in my Acknowledgements and would like to hyperlink
the \lyx symbol to the the website. I tried doing this by entering the LaTeX
command, \href{http://www.lyx.org/}{\LyX}. The strange thing is that this
sometimes works, but mostly returns an error when I compile my document. The
error I get is

The control sequence at the end of the top line

and I'll forget about whatever was undefined.

Any ideas what the problem is or how else I can achieve my goal? I've

not to ue the LyX symbol nor not to provide a link.

www.lyx.org/test temporarily down (renamed..)

2008-04-06 Thread christian . ridderstrom

Hi,

I've renamed all wiki pages from e.g.

Main.HomePage - Web.HomePage

this means that the URI

http:/www.lyx.org/test/HomePage

no longer works, as it is automatically mapped to

http://www.lyx.org/test/index.php/Main/HomePage
  ^^

You can however access the lyx web pages through

http://www.lyx.org/test/wiki/index.php/Web/HomePage

Jean-Marc, could you modify

/etc/httpd/virtual.d/www.lyx.org.conf

so that the line

  AliasMatch ^/test/([?A-Z].*) /home/lyx/www/www-user/test/index.php/Main/$1

instead reads

  AliasMatch ^/test/([?A-Z].*) /home/lyx/www/www-user/test/index.php/Web/$1

But I get the following error message when compiling my source:
! Undefined control sequence.argument \ssf @sizel.7 \Cpp
I trie to figure out where the problem is but was not able to! Could you
please help me to get this workin' ?
Here is a basic latex file which does not compile on my system:
\documentclass{article}

What are you thinking about the idea to offer a debian-binary-lyx-package (.deb)? I
would also make it much more easiar to update Lyx.

I have one problem to view landscape files with 'gv' for LyX1.2.

  If I load 'landslide.lyx' example from /example
directory to LyX, and to view it I'm using LyX as
'view-postscrip'. By default, it uses gv (version 3.5.8).

I've got pickture, but in portrait style. If I'll click
click on 'landscape' on gv, I cannot see all text of this
example (it is cut on left side).

However, I can get it work if I do the following:
  1) convert 'lyx' file to latex
  2) dvips landslide.dvi -o landslide.ps -t landscape
  3) gv landslide.ps

now if I use 'landscape' option in gv, I can see all
   text.

Could you please tell me, what goes wrong ?

   cheers, Sergei

I have had this same problem. I think it is a bug in either gv or
ghostscript (I would suspect gv but also ghostview and other viewers have
the same problem).

It sometimes works if you select Layout/Document/Paper and select Use
Geometry Package.

However, I can get it work if I do the following:
  1) convert 'lyx' file to latex
  2) dvips landslide.dvi -o landslide.ps -t landscape
  3) gv landslide.ps

I didn't know this. I will try this next time when I encounter the problem.

Hi.

Congratulations for the job done. LyX is really a great piece of software. Here (see:
http://borex.lngs.infn.it ) we are using it extensively to write scientific articles,
reports, etc.

We have a problem, though. We have several collaborators from Russia who needs to
write documents is Russian language (Cyrillic chars), usually mixed with some english
text, math formulas, etc.

Problem is, it looks like it is really hard to properly set up Russian (Cyrillic)
keyboard map in LyX and, even worse, we have not been able to find any easy way to
switch back and forth from english to russian when writing mixed language documents
(almost all are such).

Oddly enough, with some older versions of LyX we had found a way (although not
perfect) to to that somehow, while with the latest versions it seems to be just
impossible! :-(

Why could not LyX just use the system's keyboard maps and encodings?

In KDE, Gnome and even plain X with whatever wm on it there are several confortable
utilities to simply switch keyboard maps back and forth on the fly to and from
(almost) any language with just a mouse click or some hotkey combination.
Most applications works that way without any problem. If LyX could simply do the same,
it would be great!

Instead, unfortunately, switching the keyboard layout that way simply makes LyX input
the wrong characters or none at all. :-(

What is the current situation and the plans for the near future?

Thanks for your attention.

Ciao e grazie,
Paolo.

together. Later there is also a new updated LyX-1.1.6fix2 (if I not forget
it) on SuSE download server... You can download LyX for SuSE in the
