[maemo-developers] Nokia 770 CPU speed

2006-06-30 Thread Raju, Vanitha G

Hi

Is there a utility to read the processor speed? Or if you have the
register details which can be accessed to determine the speed - that
would be of help.

Thanks
Vanitha

Hi,

at least in kernel 2.6.16-omap1 (IT2006) you can 'cat'
file /proc/omap_clocks

Re: [maemo-developers] osso-xterm for mamemo 2.0 beta

2006-06-30 Thread Marius Vollmer
ext Laszlo T. [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

 Hello!

 How do I install osso-xterm for mamemo 2.0 beta?

 I downloaded manually: (because I have no internet connection for pda.)
 osso-xterm_0.13_armel.deb
 dependencies:
 libvte-common_0.11.13-3osso1_all.deb
 libvte4_0.11.13-3osso1_armel.deb
 libncurses5_5.4-3_armel.deb
 and I tried to install from file, this packages, but the Application manager
 says:
 Unable to install. Incompatible package.
 Why?

Because the lib packages you list are not 'user' packages. The
error message is a bit misleading, granted...

 My tip:
 the section in control in deb is not correct.

I'd say it is correct: the lib packages are not supposed to be
visible in the Application manager. They are considered part of the
system, like libgtk2.0 etc.

Spoiler alarm: The Application manager can be put into a mode where it
treats all packages as user packages, regardless of their section.
It's a hidden setting, but should not be hard to find...

Also, I am getting this idea of adding a dir:// method to apt that
will treat a random directory full of .deb files as a repository,
creating the Packages file etc on the fly... maybe this already
exists.

I don't understand, why do you need to see if btsdp is available? If
you need it, just send the request and D-BUS starts the service for
you.

 And as far as using gwconnect in scratchbox, I wasn't sure if it
 used the hciX device or not if there was one up and running.

I _think_ that btcond needs to be root. So you would have to play with
suidbits or something similar to get it working inside scratchbox.

[maemo-developers] DUMMY connection with script attached?

2006-06-30 Thread Frantisek Dufka

Hello,

is it possible to set some script for dummy IAP to execute that brings
up my custom network? Or is there any other custom type for this?

Currently I first need to open dummy connection (
http://maemo.org/maemowiki/DummyIAP ) and then run script that
configures network (bluetooth PAN). It would be nice to automate this
and run my script automatically when such 'dummy' connection is opened
from the GUI.

If it is not possible it would be a nice feature to add so we can have
any custom type of network.

No, the difference would be that the dir:// method generates the
Packages and Release files on the fly, based on the directory
contents. The file:// method just expects the Packages and Release
files to be available in the filesystem.

Does someone know how to playback mp3 or wav or pcm file
using gst-launch ?

I have alsasink and osssink problems in both SDK_PC and

Is there a need for new mad plugin and where can I get
it ? I found only one for 0.8 and Maemo 2.0 uses gst 0.10.

Thanks, your help, but

The sources are here:

What can I do this source? Sorry, but I don't understand.

You can use the assume-connection setting in
/home/user/.appinstaller to suppress connection requests by the
Application manager.

without xterm?

And where are this scritpst to modifying the root filesystem?
 * make_rootimage.sh
 * dlocate.sh
 * droot.sh
 * conf.sh
 * strip.sh
 * tar2jffs2.sh
 * releasenotes.sh
 * gconftool-wrapper
https://stage.maemo.org/svn/integration/trunk/rootimagescripts/ is wrong.

 Hi,

 I am trying to compile x11vnc for the 770. I downloaded the sources [1],
 and compiled it under the scractchbox with the SDK_ARM profile (with
 maemo 2.0 beta). I copied the binary to the 770, but it lacks one of the
 libraries (the same binary run perfectly in the scratchbox).

 This is the output of the ldd command in the scractchbox:

 [sbox-SDK_ARM: ~/x11vnc-0.8.orig/x11vnc]  ldd x11vnc
 libXext.so.6 = /usr/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x)
 libXtst.so.6 = /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6 (0x)
 libXrandr.so.2 = /usr/lib/libXrandr.so.2 (0x)
 libX11.so.6 = /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x)
 libnsl.so.1 = /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0x)
 libpthread.so.0 = /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x)
 libz.so.1 = /usr/lib/libz.so.1 (0x)
 libjpeg.so.62 = /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 (0x)
 libc.so.6 = /lib/libc.so.6 (0x)
 libdl.so.2 = /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x)
 libXrender.so.1 = /usr/lib/libXrender.so.1 (0x)
 libXau.so.0 = /usr/lib/libXau.so.0 (0x)
 /lib/ld-linux.so.3 = /lib/ld-linux.so.3 (0x)

 The file /usr/lib/libXrandr.so.2 is not present in the 770:

 Nokia770-22:/home/user# ls /usr/lib/libXr*
 /usr/lib/libXrender.so.1  /usr/lib/libXrender.so.1.3.0

 And this is the output when I try to run the program:

 Nokia770-22:/home/user# ./x11vnc
 ./x11vnc: error while loading shared libraries: libXrandr.so.2: cannot
 open shared object file: No such file or directory

 I think that the environment in the scratchbox and the 770 are the same
 (with some exceptions, for instance the Bluetooth stuff), so I think
 that libXrandr.so.2 is missing in the 770.

 Israel
