At the end of QA testing md5 was
36ff3dfaa8812e597ec32ff1b7d98e4f  Mageia-3-beta3-x86_64-DVD.iso

Thanks - given what Claire says that looks like the checksums from the 
end of QA testing were copied, but some last minute changes added to the 
isos.


Since my 2 independant downloads both produced and md5 sum of
0f65c69c8b337e86ab315ee428c37f00
that is certainly the correct one and the download should be OK

36ff3dfaa8812e597ec32ff1b7d98e4f

I obtain a similar discrepancy with sha1. Did I invent a clever way to
get things wrong, or is there a problem with the contents of the mirror?

There was indeed a problem on primary mirror during the copy. It should 
be fixed now.
