[MlMt] sort subfolders by unread count ?

2014-10-03 Thread Max Rydahl Andersen

Hey,

Is there a way to sort my folders based on unread count ?

or if not for folders, at least for the autogenerated subfolders ?

I got 12142 unread mails and would like to know which folder carries the
biggest burden ;)

No.

No.

The non-trivial part of an implementation would be to make it
efficient to dynamically update the subfolders. Since it's unlikely
I'll have time for that soon then here is a quick hack *for the next
test release*:

	defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmSortSubmailboxesByCount -bool
YES

I believe the sorting is only updated if mailboxes are added/removed
(or you change the submailbox settings).

great - i'll try this.

is it Version 1.8 (4548) or later ?

You appear to have bigger problems than the sorting of subfolders ;-)

tell me about it - but if I could sort it I could Remove some of these
more easily ;)

Later. I'm investigating a problem reported for r4548 which might mean
a new beta won't be far away. We'll see.

Ok, r4551 has been released now.

About the bug: I only have 1 report (out of ~70 downloads before I
pulled the update), but I think more have been affected. The bug would
trigger MailMate to fail connecting to any account for which the user
had changed the IMAP username or hostname at any point in the past. The
fix ensures this no longer happens, but any users affected by the bug
have to do these changes again. Sorry about the inconvenience for any
users affected by this.

already downloaded and tested the flag before this mail. works

[MlMt] deleting many emails at once freezes mailmate Re: sort subfolders by unread count ?

2014-10-03 Thread Max Rydahl Andersen

Hey,

As sideeffect of being able to locate the folders/mails causing me to
have inbox bankruptcy

I found that mailmate is not good at deleteing many emails at once.

I had a folder with thousands of mails (notifcations from build servers
etc.) and wanted to delete them - this

froze mailmate and was not sure if it ever did anything

Could mailmate show a progress of the delete as opposed to just freeze
up ?

If it didn't do anything then it's both slow and buggy. But I assume you
used Force Quit. In that case nothing would happen.

I'll note to look into why it is slow. In theory, it shouldn't be, but
maybe the action triggers something it shouldn't (like loading/parsing
the messages).

I think you understand it correctly. Looking at the related code I
can see that part of it uses some deprecated functionality and
depending on the headers of your messages then it might not work as
expected. You can try enabling “strong muting” as follows:

defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmStrongMutingEnabled -bool YES

Just confirming that this change gets muting working perfectly.

Many thanks Benny

Re: [MlMt] Cannot connect to iCloud mailbox

2014-10-03 Thread Zi Yan
Thanks. After removing @me.com part, I can login.

The weird thing is before 4469, I was able to login without any problem.

Anyway, I will remember not to put my entire email address there again.

After I update to 4551, I am still not able to connect.

The error is always authentication failed.

I tried my iCloud password, application-specific password. Neither works.

The most frequent problem with iCloud is the username for the IMAP settings.
It should only be the username part of your email address and not the full
email address. If that doesn't help then provide your account settings.

The recommended settings can be found
 [here](http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4864). Interestingly (and
inconsistently) Apple writes that the entire email address should be used for
SMTP, but that does not seem to matter for my test account.

By the way, r4551 should be able to import your iCloud account from Apple
Mail. You can test this by right-clicking the account to “Remove Source” and
then use “File ▸ Import Accounts…” to import it.

Ah, that's my fault. The first beta I sent out today (fetched by ~70
people before I pulled it) had a bug which would reset any changes done
in the past to the IMAP hostname or username. You have probably made
this change (removing `me.com`) once before. Sorry about that!
