[mapguide-users] Mapguide-Rest with Beta 4.0
I saw that Jackie had work with Mapguide-Rest on his todo list. Has any one tried Mapguide-Rest with Beta 4.0? Does it work? I have a customer has has flagged the old PHP versions as a problem , however I need mapguide Rest to work if I upgrade them to Beta 4.0. I just use rest for Getting sessions, MAking selections, Getting fieldnames, Getting layers, no fancy stuff. ___ mapguide-users mailing list mapguide-users@lists.osgeo.org https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/mapguide-users

That sounds like enough for most maps. A slow loading map can be caused by doing any number of things to large or unindexed layers. Re: [mapguide-users] mapguide and mssql low performance problem
Spatial Indexing is huge, as was mentioned. I know it makes no sense, but I found a layer once that had to many Varchar(max) fields converting that one layer to the appropriate varchar lengths made a difference. Making sure that your layers are the same coordinate system as the map helps. Make sure you have a primary key. If you are theming a layer make an index on the column you are theming as well. I've also notice tables with too many indexes seem to suffer as well. Re: [mapguide-users] Getting Selection Geometry on Remote machine FCGI/REST OR API ANYONE?
Thank you so much Jackie... I finally have an aspx class that can be called by jquery etc that can get runtime map and make selection(put) on the rest service across domains...one I get it to do the geometry collection I will post it I noticed that unless a map image has been requested that selections fail because it must look at map states...try a runtime nap request then a selection without requesting a map image and it will give a zero coord type image request. Always why a selection only returns a bounding box and not the individual geometries? Maybe a flag to say return bbbox vs geometries? This suggestion worked up to the 2.5.2 release. Unfortunately, that above suggestion does not apply for 2.6 and 3.0 as gisinternals does not offer a MSVC 2012 compiled build of GDAL 1.10 I have just discovered that Tamas also offers all the supporting libs needed to compile this full featured GDAL yourself at: http://www.gisinternals.com/sdk.php Since that's the case, I am going to try building a custom GDAL (using our internal GDAL 1.10 source tree in FDO) against these libs to see if we can achieve our desired result. I get that error when PHP hasn't installed correctly.Have you tried the web server extensions to make sure they are working at least? http://localhost/mapguide/mapagent/ Make sure Enumerate Resources gives you some XML output.if that is good your FCGI is working. I think there is a place Where you can set the Windows Environmental variables so PHP loads correctly. Check The newsgroup with a search. Also check the handler mappings in IIS again a search in the User group should reveal the mappings On my install *.PHP mappings begin on the mapguide share to file C:\Program Files (x86)\OSGeo\MapGuide\Web\Php\php5isapi.dll and are inherited down..Make sure its local and doesn't say inherited there (bug of seen once) Your FCGI handler should start at the mapagent subfolder and point to C:\Program Files (x86)\OSGeo\MapGuide\Web\www\mapagent\isapi_MapAgent.dll I'm not the expert here just happen to have IIS open and thought I'd chime in. Re: the first question...Am I just stuck Using the Mapguide API to transform my bounds perhaps? Also any clue if OpenLayers is looking to use the CSMAP/mentor System in the future? The second Question Was asking How fusion Worked...Non of My Midwest County Based/NAD 27 State based Maps will work for Google/Bing Overlays...Does fusion Display the Google/Bing Layers in the Maps Coordinate system? Or does it project the map into Spherical Mercator to Accomplish the overlay...The only example Ive been successful with is the LL Sheboygan one...So its hard for me to tell. ___ mapguide-users mailing list mapguide-users@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/mapguide-users

So if you set your BaseLayer in OpenLayers to have a projection option with a value of EPSG:1234 it will internally create the required projection handling objects to transform coordinates. In your application, you can either include a projection definition directly as in: Proj4js.defs[EPSG:1234]=+title=LAMB sud france +proj=lcc +lat_1=44.1 +lat_0=44.1 +lon_0=0 +k_0=0.999877499 +x_0=60 +y_0=20 +a=6378249.2 +b=6356515 +towgs84=-168,-60,320,0,0,0,0 +pm=paris +units=m; or you can have it looks those up automatically from spatialreference.org. There are some optimizations in the provider which were added last week, which do different SQL queries based on the order of the columns, and there may well be a new bug there which I don't see with my data since it is using different order. I have no reason to think that the 3.3 build is any different from the 3.4 one since I used the same version of the code to compile each one -- granted, for 3.3 I had to use a different version of Visual Studio, but that should not be a problem if you have the runtimes installed. RE: [mapguide-users] Maestro - RenderRuntimeMap questions
Ive always been wondering WHY the default is 96 dpi? Most monitors do much better than that...and thus scale is never accurate as displayed in the viewer. Scale is the display scale, eg. 1:500 or 1:1000. Say you have an object that is 1000 inches wide, and display it in 1:500, it would be two inches on screen. If you set DPI = 96, you get 96 pixels pr. inch, resulting in the object being 192 pixels wide in the image. [mapguide-users] Brain freeze Combining MgFeatureQueryOptions.SetFilter For filtering and MgFeatureQueryOptions.
OK Here goes the scenario…. i have a map that already has a selction made in it that contains objects on multiple layers… Pipes, CLs, and WaterNodes (points themed BY a field of ObjectType MH, Valve etc.) I need mapguide to return a list of values from the NODEIDS field for only selected items on the “WaterNodes” Layer Where the field ObjectType = ‘MH’. Ive gotten this to work by going crazy iterating through the feature reader and a layerFilter….But this is really inefficient and I know it isnt this difficult… I’m plain out missing something when trying to incorporate MgFeatureQueryOptions.SetFilter For filtering and MgFeatureQueryOptions.AddFeatureProperty for Limiting the properties returned? It seems I should be able to use these two functionalities to make this code much more streamlined without having to iterate a feature reader to loop through each object in the layer and then loop through each field on the object….Seems like I should be able to do this with no loops and no feature reader going through every object but I keep getting stonewalled I know Im just having a Mental block…Any takers willing to push me past this Brain Freeze? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Brain-freeze-Combining-MgFeatureQueryOptions.SetFilter-For-filtering-and-MgFeatureQueryOptions.-tp21095042p21095042.html Sent from the MapGuide Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ mapguide-users mailing list mapguide-users@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/mapguide-users

Why we want to use Java: well, our shop has expertise in JSP (and related Java technologies), so it will be a lot easier to develop in Java than trying to learn PHP and .Net etc. Why we want to use IIS: we used to use Apache, but we had good success with integrating Tomcat with IIS. Besides, that allowed us to run other content which was IIS friendly (e.g. ASP, etc). [mapguide-users] DWF EPLOT Only one Layer can be selectable and have data
I Went through and Used the Plot to DWF code EPLOT.PHP to create DWF output. My DWF opens just fineHowever a few Odd things in their behaviourIt only allows me to have one layer that is selectable for getting Object Properties from. In my map I have PLSS/Section corners that are selectable and Data is Displayable in the AJAX viewer, same With my Parcels Layer...When i publish to DWF only the Top most (PLSS corners) layer is ever published as selectable and having Object Properties on it...I moved the Parcels to the top then they worked and the PLSS corners didnt, even with only the PLSS corners layer on. So I did an advanced search on The PLSS corners by an ID and Voila its in the DWF, but when i click on the Object hyperlink it wont zoom to that feature, i do an advanced search on parcels and the Hyperlink works...Is this a bug in the $mappingService-GeneratePlot Code? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/DWF-EPLOT-Only-one-Layer-can-be-selectable-and-have-data-tp18932394p18932394.html Sent from the MapGuide Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ mapguide-users mailing list mapguide-users@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/mapguide-users

That is true. But that is using an FCGI call and not the Rendering Service API.The API has no mention of DPI.I would think the API would have all the same capabilities that an FCGI call has? I started using the FCGI calls.but it became annoying because changing the FCGI DPI.caused the Current maps DPI to change. Its obviously a Meters foot issue. Is there an INI default to feet in one and meters in the other? .Looking over the Code Its gotta be in When I run measure.GetDistance(0,0,1,1) in OpenSource I receive 3.2753716538 When I do the same thing in Enterprise I get 0.99966727859 So I know where it starts But why.all the other variables Carry through. So... I think it's fair to say that eventually this problem will be going away. Jason _ From: Kenneth, GEOGRAF A/S Subject: Re: [mapguide-users] Coordinate Systems I agree that it is important. But the problem is that MapGuide Studio assumes that the server uses the Mentor library. This means that you should report the problem to Autodesk, as this forum has no influence on the development of MapGuide Studio. I usually google around for the EPSG code, and then use the http interface to get the WKT for the projection. If all else fails, I use the XY-M projection. ___ mapguide-users mailing list mapguide-users@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/mapguide-users

All my Maps are Using state Plane feet in Different States. When I run a 66 foot buffer, it comes out 1/3 of what it should be, when I run a 66 Meter buffer they run in what looks like feet. Is this an issue with Mapguide Open Source trying to Buffer a map Made in Mapguide Studio and not recognizing Autodesk Coord Systems in the open Source Server?? [mapguide-users] Queryfeature under rendering service
I'm trying to run a buffer and then have it autoselect items on a given layer, here's the catch, I want it to be able to select objects that are on selectable layers that may not yet be visible There are 2 ways to run QueryFeatures on a rendering service...the first works great when I'm zoomed in and the layer is on but doesn't work when I'm zoomed out and the layers off...the second one lets me enter a layer attribute filter of 2 selectable but requires an xml string as if I actually know the parcels I want to filter before the buffer. I send in a blank xml string and I get a selection of one or two parcels but never the actual amount that should be under my buffer help ___ mapguide-users mailing list mapguide-users@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/mapguide-users
