inside the community of prospect users.

Ubuntu is very visible in the IT environment, but is invisible in the

money with advertising and have invested in a community.

TDF objective is not to have an advertising campaign which is talked

Although I am not talking on behalf of the entire Steering Committee, I
can certainly tell that TDF is not going to invest money in advertising
at least in 2011 (but I suspect it will be for several years to come).

There are many ways to spend a marketing budget, and advertising -
especially in the office suite environment - is definitely one of the
least effective (and more expensive).

Hello,

This web site is not an official website endorsed by the Document
Foundation; and I believe your right to use for business the LibreOffice
trademark has not be granted to you.

Not only do I find a discussion about a private business to be quite
unappropriate on this list, but I would also like Dave Johnson to take down
this website immediately, at least not to use the LibreOffice name .

The Document Foundation may not have defined a clear trademark policy yet
but it would be wise to ask before hand.

Thank you,

Charles-H. Schulz.

I see a need in the market and I want to fulfill that need with the highest
quality professionally manufactured DVD's containing Mac and Window$ binaries.
The disc will also have copious amounts of templates and extensions to include
After the Deadline spelling and grammar checker.

Thanks Ben for your words of encouragement.

Welcome back, Dave! I think you are doing the right thing here. You are
creating a valuable service that might be the only possible option some people
have to access LibreOffice!

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Re: [us-marketing] I'm back in the game.

2010-12-28 Thread Michael Wheatland
Dave,
After our chat I fully support what you are doing.
LibreOffice does not have a trademark policy yet, hence it is not
against the rules to use it, and you have not bypassed a system which
gives authority to use the trademark because it does not exist yet.

I second Ben. You are doing a great job and although there are some in
the community who communicate aggressively I am sure the bulk of the
community will support anyone with good intentions and motivation to
get stuff done.

Thanks,
Michael Wheatland

Re: [libreoffice-marketing] LibO DVD fulfillment web-page

2010-12-28 Thread Stefan Weigel
Hi Dave,

Am 28.12.2010 23:35, schrieb Dave Johnson:

I am NOT selling the software just a professionally made DVD with
a Windows and Macintosh binary. Probably OpenOffice.org 3.3.0

So what is on the DVD you are offering?

* LibreOffice has not been released yet.
* OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 has not been released yet

* Please don´t sell DVDs labeled LibreOffice when OpenOffice.org
is on it.
* Please don´t sell DVDs with beta state software without telling
that it is beta state software.

If you mean to support the project by distributing a professionally
made DVD on your website, which basically is a good thing, I would
like to see a professionally made website as well.

And please, for the sake of usability of this list for all readers,
please have a look at:
http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html

Thank you very much!
