[libreoffice-marketing] Printed copies of LO 3.4 Writer Guide now available from Lulu.com
Printed copies of the LO 3.4 Writer Guide are now available from Lulu.com. http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/libreoffice-34-writer-guide/12861133 Wiki has been updated with the link. https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications Website page has been updated and also reorganised slightly reworded. http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/ I'm posting an announcement to my accounts on Twitter, Google+, and Facebook; others may wish to retweet or share. LibDocs blog post coming soon. Remember our blog? It could use more articles than just publication announcements (hint, hint). No doubt I'll forget to do something. Please be gentle when you point out my omissions and mistakes. ;-) --Jean -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Hi Jean, hi all in the documentation list (as I have just subscribed). What about announcing the availability of LibreOffice related books with a press release? This would probably help to increase downloads and help sales of the printed version. If you agree, we can plan the press release for the week of May 15, but in order to produce a suitable draft I need the right links to both the wiki and the Lulu website (I am very good at finding the wrong link, or very bad at finding the right one, if you prefer ;-)). Thanks, Italo Sounds good to me! I'll collect the info you want and send it to you later today. Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Writer Guide v3.4 published
Hi :) Welcome in :) I think a press release is a good idea. The docs team are usually shy about that sort of thing but it might help to attract new lurkers to the team and maybe a few more active members too. [libreoffice-marketing] Facebook page instead of group?
Hello, I'm doing a bit of a spring cleanup right now, and I think it makes sense to remove our Facebook group altogether, keeping only the page intact. Nowadays, pages can also share pictures and events, and groups are more dedicated for a closed circle (i.e. even with an open group you have to approve each and every member). I doubt we would miss a lot of functionality when simply dropping the group, but before doing so, wanted to ask about your opinion. Feedback welcome! Florian I think that's an excellent idea, to remove the group and have only the page. That will also focus attention in one place, which I think is a good and useful thing. Jean The only thing you need to do is make sure the people who want to slam LO are kept away from adding their ideas to LO's Facebook environment. I do not use the social media, so I do not know the ins and outs of them. But I do know that currently in the USA you employer can force you to hand over all your social media account passwords or face being fired. Some States and the Federal governments are trying to create laws against this, but it is an uphill battle. So having LO groups approved members, can be helpful as well as not. Make sure you talk to your users before you make the changes. Sometimes what looks good for some is not something the masses like. That is MSO does, they decide what their users want and not the users. -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to marketing+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/marketing/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

We'll put a link to it on the Docs section of the wiki, as the first of what we hope will be a large collection of how-to videos by lots of people. I hope it will nudge others into action.
