you indeed did! :) Thanks a lot!

Please let me know (in private) when you have an address so I can donate
to, I'll be glad to be among the first transactions :)

Ok, I will try to remember. :-)

You may not want to make public a single unique Bitcoin address to
receive payments (email me off-list), as it's easy to then trace/follow
transactions. Bitpay does take care of that too, it generates a new
wallet/address for each transaction.

Hm, what's the proposed mechanism then? Randomly showing one of these
addresses, or does BitPay provide a special mechanism to handle this
directly?

I noticed after the fact. I've asked them if they have a similar
offering for German organizations. If not, it would still be only 1%,

that sounds good (and much cheaper than other solutions ;-) I saw that
they also offer direct bank payment, which makes me really interested.
I signed up with them and wait for feedback, so we can see how it
works - thanks for the hint!

Plus, I saw a rather reputable German NGO using their services, which
gives them even more credibility for me.

Let's see how that works out (waiting for their feedback now),
 otherwise I'll check other providers.

thanks a lot for that - it sounds interesting, but with TDF being not a
501(c)(3), but rather a German entity tex-exempt under the local law, it
won't fly.

However, I really would like to keep BitCoin moving and offer it. Do you
know of any other service providers, ideally in Germany, that would
allow us to accept Bitcoins? Do you have any hands-on experience? While
googling, I found quite a few, but if you have a recommendation, that'd
be pretty helpful! :-)

using BitCoins is still on our todo. For Germany, it seems the legal
issues have been cleared, now we just need a reliable and cheap exchange
provider - working on that, but no ETA as of today.

I've had only good recommendations about them, I became a merchant a few
weeks ago and I used their service in a restaurant (Vegan Galaxy in
Boston) as a customer 2 days ago for the first time, quite easy.

I asked on /r/Bitcoin for goof measure, that's where I found out it was
free for non-profits/charities:

Let me know if you need help with this or if you have any other questions.

ps. in full disclosure, I am Chief ambassador for the Bitcoin Embassy
in Montreal - http://bitcoinembassy.ca ;) I have no stakes in BitPay,
though, just a happy user.

[libreoffice-marketing] Donation options.

2013-09-25 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
We just had a suggestion on the Users Mailing List that bit-coin might be
another good option to add to help more people be able to donate more easily.

I don't know if it's difficult to set-up.  My guess is that if it hasn't
already been done then it's probably more difficult than it sounds and might
not be worth doing.  On the other hand it might just not have been thought of
at the time the donations page was made and just be a dohh moment so i
thought i would forward the idea jic

Regards from
Tom :)

Hi, i don't know if this is the correct address for support, but anyway:
You should add bitcoin as a donation option.
for me for example .. i live in belgium and we use a different credit-card (no
visa/mastercard) and i do not own
a paypal account. I would donate btc if it was an option.

It's quite easy in fact.

If you need help let me know, I happen to have recently joined the
Bitcoin Embassy :) http://www.bitcoinembassy.ca

For those curious about Bitcoin, I dedicated a page on my site to it:
