At the moment, I just want our 3.0 videos that we did.  I don't have any

As for quality I'm not sure.  I think it depends on what the channel wants

features, learn how to use our popular applications.

I agree a certain standard needs to met, but it shouldn't be so onerous that
we get nothing.  Probably something we have to play by ear.

Yeah I agree with that. What I would like to avoid is turning it into

The other thing is that it would be good to avoid having yet another

FoG Campaign Update?

2012-01-12 Thread Allan Day
Hi all,

I haven't been particularly involved in this, and I thought the
initial announcement was awesome. I just wanted to ask if there are
any plans to produce updates? For a campaign like this it is really
important to keep the pressure up and to make people feel like it is
an ongoing effort. A progress update would be great, and I'd be happy
to help post it on gnome.org if someone wants to write a draft.

Hi Allan,

There were some problems in the original launching so we are
thinking about trying to re-launch the FoG campaign

We had  problems with the donation progress bar, so I think

is good idea to add it with the relaunching.. I'm in contact with
another person for getting a new testimonial. I'm writing also
an article about accessibility and the campaign.

think we should let it block our other activities.

People will have read the original announcement and some people will

Organising GNOME News

2012-01-12 Thread Allan Day
Hi all,

We can do a much better job at organising our news generating
activities, so that we have a more regular flow of posts and so that
we adequately cover events when they happen.

To this end, I've started some planning pages on the wiki. There's a
high-level [1] page covering goals and, perhaps more importantly,
there's also a planning page [2] that covers event planning and
content ideas.

I think we should have someone who is responsible for coordinating the
news around each GNOME event. They need to make sure that news stories
get written and proofed and go out on time, and they need to make sure
that necessary arrangements take place before each event. As I trial
run, I've put myself down as the news lead for FOSDEM 2012 [3]. If it
goes well I'm hoping that other people will volunteer to do other
events. I hope that this will give people an opportunity to get
involved in generating GNOME news and gives us a vehicle to get more
organised.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Yes, the donation bar is good to know how things are going. AFAIK,
by now the response is not quite good. So sure, some posts in bgo
will help.

By the way, I'd like to have a blog in gnome.org to help in this. I have

Right, after all this is marketing, so we want to protect the brand as much
as possible adn that means a level of production that we all feel respects
the brand.

Right. I'm hoping to grow that stream of content, or use it for ads
whatever. I would still like to see the original idea of having a
subscription and getting interesting how to videos or perhaps screencasts
of new features etc.

I agree! I was kind of thinking that we could have something setup for
GUADEC.Meaning we work with the guadec organizing committee to have a
room reserved with everything setup to do videos so that we can get others
to do short video clips on the new features of GNOME 3. That way it isn't
allon Jason or someone else to set up a video setup. It'll be fun too
because it would be a group effort. I nominate Lennart Poettering for at
least one! :)

I love the idea of doing another big push. I was talking to Joanie about
it and she was suggesting we do one following the hackfest, that way we
can report on work accomplished and the like. This makes sense to me, and
we can release the second testimonial if it's ready at the same time. What
do you think?

We should get a bunch of people to blog it that week too. And I'm
definitely mentioning the campaign in my linux.conf.au keynote on
