I'm still getting the details myself on this hackfest, but one thing I do know is that the hackfest involves a trip to Largo, Florida where the city extensively uses open source and GNOME on over 800 thin clients and servers. I'm not directly involved in organizing this hackfest. We're mainly just giving them a place to hack for the weekend and keep their bellies full. :-) Federico would be a better person to talk to if you want more details about it. Would be a good opportunity for you to meet with UX hackers and get some firsthand discussions on the successes (and yes failures) of GNOME 3 and where it will go from here. Kicking off 3.6 Release Notes
Hi marketing team, hi release team, it's about time to start preparing the 3.6 release notes. Last time (see https://mail.gnome.org/archives/marketing-list/2012-March/msg00022.html ) several things were mentioned: * Potentially move from Docbook format to Mallard or Wordpress * Better integration with press release (buzzword synergy effects) Any comments and volunteers for this? (I can only volunteer for setting up the traditional Docbook skeleton, sorry.) Allan, Emily, Olav and Sri have expressed potential interest in helping to write the release notes. I will help with some bits but will have less time than the last two times. Hi, Karen, Stormy: One more thing I forgot to mention: if your marketing team wants to some media training, I'd be happy to set something up. I've participated in some very successful ones via IRC, with one channel for the main discussion and another for comments and questions. I could probably enlist one or two other FOSS journalists, too. My suggestion for a format: 10-15 minutes of opening statements by journalists and/or media experts, followed by the answering of questions. It would also be useful to have someone who does nothing but moderate.
