One thing I would like to bring awareness to is with these apps that lock out 
external functionality to make sure that they do allow for the enabling of 
VoiceOver or other triple-click-home accessibility feature mappings.

There are very few feelings more frustrating to users than seeing an 
institution with iPads serving content that's mostly accessible but with the 
home button disabled and no awareness of VoiceOver.

It's about $40/iPad, but it's highly worth it. It does a great job of locking 
you into a specific web view, and you can force it into single app mode.

You may want to check out Apple Configurator which allows you to lock your iPad 
to a single app so folks can't access the home screen and settings app.

[MCN-L] iPad Lockdown Help

We had similar issues with our iPads.  I belive the only way to accomplish what 
you’re needing is to use a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution.  Mac OS X 
Server includes Profile Manager which is Apple’s built-in mobile device 
management system.  It doesn’t do as much as other MDM solutions, but its 
inexpensive and would accomplish what you’re needing.  If you have an old Mac 
somewhere with specs that allow you to install the latest version of Mac OS X 
(which is free) then you can download Mac OS X Server from Apple’s App store 
for $19.99.  Thats what we use here to lock down our iPads.  It allows us to 
hide all the apps except for the ones we want users to have access to.  Apple 
MDM doesn’t let us hide the Settings app (that I know of), but lets us lock 
down the settings app so that none of the settings can be changed.

This year, MCN is looking to recruit *5 members to our Board of Directors*.
Terms will begin in November at the annual conference in New Orleans.

For many of our board members, serving MCN is a way to give back to an
organization and a community that have helped them in their museum careers.
It’s an opportunity to be part of a team of talented museum professionals
who, together, shape the strategic direction of MCN and constantly think
about new ways to better serve the needs of our community.

In 2017, MCN will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding. We are
looking for people to help MCN plan this exciting milestone and execute the
strategic priorities identified in our 2016-2018 Strategic Plan (

the community with an interest in serving MCN can apply, we are
