[MeeGo-dev] videoplayer using xvideo/xvimagesink?

2010-08-26 Thread anand k n
Reposting...

I am trying to use the default mediaplayer .I have an issue when I am using
the xvideo plugin.
the gst pipeline I think is created like this but does not work (no
display)for videoplayer
filesrc location=file ! qtdemux ! omx_h263dec ! qvideosurfacegstsink

But when I use the gst-launch pipeline it works properly
gst-launch-0.10 --gst-debug=0 filesrc location=file ! qtdemux ! omx_h263dec
! xvimagesink

when I enable the log in case of videoplayer I can see that
xvimagesink xvimagesink.c:1997:gst_xvimagesink_xcontext_clear:
xvimagesink0 Closing display and freeing X Context
-I am confused whether this is an issue with gst pipeline or Qt based
interface?
-Is there a method to avoid the qvideosurfacegstsink from the videopipeline?
any pointers will be appreciated.

Subject: [MeeGo-dev] Need fix for BZ 5408: When is it planned for integration
in meego?
Importance: Low

Dear All,

I am working on integrating BT functionality within MeeGo.

Since a recent rebase to MeeGo release 20100810 (and jump to obexd-0.29
version), I observed that BT OPP/OBEX data transfer is broken because of a
known dbus issue BZ 5408.
http://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5408

Since a patch is already available (look at BZ above), I would like to know
when this patch will be integrated and released within MeeGo?
Without this patch, BT OPP/OBEX data transfer is KO...

Thanks and best regards,

Nicolas

Atoms have no hardware virtualisation and are 32-bit only.

Or did I miss a step somewhere?

VT-x isn't supported on atom processors, so there's no hardware accelerated
 virtualization, making graphics virtualization impossible.

Graphics virtualisation through Xephyr should not be affected. It's
just that the CPU will be fully emulated and will run considerably
slower on a 32-bit host OS (on a 64-bit OS the impact is much lower).
All in all it should run, just slowly.

Older versions of qemu supported hardware virtualisation on non-VT
cpus (much like vmware) but that is no longer supported.

The purpose is to apply security patches and add missing libraries for

Bugzilla will not be accessible during the maintenance break.
We apologize for the inconvenience and the rather short notice.
We estimate the break to last approx. 1 hour at most.

The break starts on Friday 27th of August 2010 at 13.00 EEST

Excellent idea. This ought to go in the contribution-guidelines[1] or at

I will mention that I believe some of our project names are just too

assumption.
I noticed something similar the other day when I had to keep manually
adding people to the CC: list in an email thread. The meego-dev list
configuration may be stripping CC: recipients that are already
subscribed to the mailing list.

Confirmed. The above email was:

To: Shane
From: James
Cc: Dave, meego-dev

But coming from the mailing list, I now have:

To: Shane
From: James
Cc: meego-dev

Normally this is obvious in any MUA that allows for threaded mail
viewing, which I, personally, could not live without ;)

Sure, I knew which mail you were replying to, but since you snipped
everything I said, I wasn't sure if you were talking to me or not :)

Not sure what happened then, because the original headers[1] from
Kevron's initial post had me CC'd in them, but your reply did not[2],
so I assumed it was intentional. My apologies for making that
 assumption.

Maybe it is mailman stripping me because I am subscribed... I don't
know. All I know is it didn't show up in my inbox or filters and the
only reason I was looking was because Kevron and I were talking
out-of-band about this and I was expecting him to send the patch.

  Hi,

Normally when a person replies to a mail sent by the mailing
list, the original author is in the To field, the mailing list is
in the Cc list, and the remainder of the Cc list is kept intact.

However, this mailing list munges the Reply-To header, which
accustoms people (wrongly) to hit reply to sender instead of
reply to all. This brings many disadvantages like:
  1) Personal level indicators don't work
  2) Searches by recipient don't work (to:me)
  3) The Cc list is not kept properly (which hurts cross-posting)

This is evil and broken and should be fixed, I agree.

The lists were originally configured with reply-to author as the
default, but I was asked to change the mailing lists to reply-to
list by several key people in the project. I've had several
requests like this one, and I agree with changing them back to
reply-to author, instead of reply-to list.

I'll make this change (reply-to author) in about 24 hours unless
  someone can convince me otherwise.

The MeeGo mailing lists, including this one, are now set to reply to
poster, instead of reply to list. You may need to remember to reply
to the list, instead of the poster, but it should cut down on
accidental postings and maintain appropriate Cc lists, etc.

This does not actually seem to be the case yet. Even in your last
message on this topic, I see no Reply-To: and as you can see from my
message here (which was a Reply not a Reply-All), you are neither
CC'd nor TO:. Only the list address was placed in the recipient
headers.

Today we had a bit of a run-around[1] because of this due to [PATCH]
messages being lost because the ML was eating the CC addresses that
are already subscribed to the ML.

[MeeGo-dev] UX for Meego on QEMU

2010-08-26 Thread bob.mccarthy
Hi,

Do we have UX for Meego on QEMU yet? I still get just a shell. I am using the
1.0.80.16.20100824.1 image.

If we don't have it yet, when do we expect to get the UX?

Thanks,

I am trying to use the default mediaplayer .I have an issue when I am using
the xvideo plugin. the gst pipeline I think is created like this but does

 omx_h263dec ! qvideosurfacegstsink

But when I use the gst-launch pipeline it works properly
 gst-launch-0.10 --gst-debug=0 filesrc location=file ! qtdemux ! omx_h263dec
 ! xvimagesink

when I enable the log in case of videoplayer I can see that
 xvimagesink xvimagesink.c:1997:gst_xvimagesink_xcontext_clear:
xvimagesink0 Closing display and freeing X Context

From this error message it doesn't look like qvideosurfacegstsink is used but
xvimagesink.

Could you provide mode details? Since you mentioned qvideosurfacegstsink
I suppose you are used QtMobility media service.
Does playbin and playbin2 elements work for you?
QtMobility gstreamer engine uses one of them for playback.

 -I am confused
whether this is an issue with gst pipeline or Qt based interface?

xvimagesink is usually used when video rendering is done with
QVideoWidgetControl, this control is tried first by QVideoWidget,
qvideosurfacegstsink is selected for QVideoWindowControl and
QVideoRendererControl (QGraphicsVideoItem case).

 -Is
there a method to avoid the qvideosurfacegstsink from the videopipeline?
 any pointers will be appreciated.
