[MeeGo-dev] Fastest to install uboot-pr13_1.0.1_armel.deb on N900 for pre-works of experiencing MeeGo 1.1
Hi experts of N900 I want to try dual boot on N900 to experience MeeGo 1.1 codedrop by uboot-pr13. And I already upgrade the N900 device with RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin. Now it's time to install uboot-pr13 on Maemo's root-fs. I downloaded it directly at my Ubuntu desktop. And is it any easier way to bring it into the N900 system and then do some dpkg installation via X terminal? I tried to format a microSD as a (ext3, ext3, vfat) fs but it cannot be recognized by file-manager and cannot be seen on /dev/mmcblkp*? and manually mount it!? With another rootsh feature!? Do you know any simple clues on this subject? Thanks in advance. (I read the MeeGo Wiki but cannot figure out how to 1. Enable the maemo.org extras-devel repository. 2. Install the 'uboot-pr13' package from 'System' section P.S. I am not a Maemo developer, nor a MeeGo developer. So I have no idea about what the extra-devel repo is here. Is that a way to do apt-get install uboot-pr13 like that!? Anthony ___ MeeGo-dev mailing list MeeGo-dev@meego.com http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev

[MeeGo-dev] Proposal for unconference session: Hardware adaptations in MeeGo
I've just added a proposal for an unconference session at the MeeGo Conference in Dublin regarding hardware adaptations in MeeGo and the requirements, architecture, compliance etc. process around them. You can see the proposal at http://wiki.meego.com/MeeGo_Conference_2010/Unconference/Hardware_adaptations_in_MeeGo - If you'd like to see this one happen - show up and show interest in the morning of the unconference day for it. And show up for the session :) Intents and purposes: I'd like to get together with like-minded individuals and discuss Hardware Adaptations within MeeGo. The topics that can be discussed within the 45 minute slot would be: * Walk-through of the architecture side of HW adaptations: adaptation subsystems * The requirements process for hardware adaptation and representing this in the MeeGo featurezilla. * Expectations from hardware adaptations of the MeeGo Core OS. * Compliance testing of HW adaptations. * How we can make making hardware adaptations for MeeGo easier. If you're from a hardware vendor, from Program Office or just generally working on something related to a current or future hardware adaptation for MeeGo, this is the place for you. If so then you could always limit available orientations via the target configuration file located in /usr/share/meegotouch/targets/. You stack will have one a specific target set via a gconf key (or which i don't recall the path off the top of my head), and then libmeegotouch will use that config to load the config from /usr/share/meegotouch/TARGET.conf. Inside that file you will see a section called [allowedOrientations] with a list of valid angles for keyboardOpen and keyboardClosed. You could (seems a bit hacky, but for what ever purpose you are trying to achieve this you could) just limit the number of valid angles to 0 and 0. --rusty ___ MeeGo-dev mailing list MeeGo-dev@meego.com http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev

Would it be possible for us to be a bit more specific about the default/supported set? The set of codecs that require licensing contracts certainly vary from country to country. To be correct, I shouldn't say require a license or require a contract, but more something relative to the likelihood of getting sued, as nobody can ever really get a bulletproof license to a particular codec, given the number of software patents that could read on the codec. In that vein, I know that representatives of the MPEG-LA have made vague threats against both Ogg Theora and WebM, however I hope that given the shared goals between MeeGo and other FOSS projects, Theora, Vorbis, VP8, and the Ogg and Matroska containers will all be supported by MeeGo right out of the box. I think it could be very helpful to have a wiki page listing supported codecs (and perhaps other supported formats, e.g. image formats) for Meego. hi, i dont think meego 1.1 has this configuration file. Is there any other way to permanently sent the mode to portrait in meego 1.1 itself??? dhaval On Wed, Nov 10, 2010 at 10:02 PM, Rusty Lynch rusty.ly...@intel.com wrote: On 11/10/2010 07:18 AM, john pratss wrote: hi all, Is there any configuration file in meego 1.1 handset image that needs to be changed which changes the Meego UI home and applications screens or orientation permanently to portrait mode. Are you saying you want to lock all UI's into a specific mode, regardless of what the orientation sensors are reporting, and regardless of what the specific app wants to do? --rusty ___ MeeGo-dev mailing list MeeGo-dev@meego.com http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev ___ MeeGo-dev mailing list MeeGo-dev@meego.com http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev
Re: [MeeGo-dev] How to hide cursor and message when startup shutdown

But if it could add a little bit support on animiation rather than just static picture, it would be better. That would slow things down, you shouldn't see the static picture very long at all before X takes over. I hope the console ouput behavior is modified by config instead of recompiling kernel. It depends on what you are seeng. Better have a document for customizing startup shutdown process. Currently it has too many screen switch, some warning / error message was not removed and there is still a visible cursor. Startup and shutdown experience should make the end user think it's a device not a PC. It looks that way on my machines :) You should see a visible cursor even it's not blink. Finally I found a kernel option to disable it, Too much screen switch during boot process if you compare it to how MacOS boots. Huh? You should see no screen switches, once the bios is through. And it's _way_ faster booting than MacOS is as well. thanks, greg k-h ___ MeeGo-dev mailing list MeeGo-dev@meego.com http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev
Re: [MeeGo-dev] audio libs
My command is gst-launch filesrc location=ogg-file ! oggdemux ! vorbisdec ! audioconvert ! alsasink and I hear a lot of noise. The same pipeline works well on my ubuntu machine. My question is what is the framework used by meegomusic player? As definetely its not using gstreamer. - Praveen On Thu, Nov 11, 2010 at 3:19 AM, Andre Klapper aklap...@openismus.comwrote: Am Donnerstag, den 11.11.2010, 03:10 +0530 schrieb praveen pandey: I am not able to play them using gstreamer from command line. ...and your command is, and your output is? andre -- Andre Klapper (maemo.org bugmaster) ___ MeeGo-dev mailing list MeeGo-dev@meego.com http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev ___ MeeGo-dev mailing list MeeGo-dev@meego.com http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev
