Mersenne: Linux question

1998-09-27 Thread George Woltman

Hi,

I was asked this question today. Since I'm not a Linux user, any help
in answering this question is appreciated.

My computer is now dual boot Linux/Windows 95. I have downloaded mprime and
put it in the same folder as prime95 and verified that it runs. How can I
set it up so that it runs automatically when I boot Linux? It is on the
Windows 95 disk and all files on that disk, as far as Linux is concerned,
are owned by root and cannot be written by anyone else.

Thanks,
George

Mersenne: New prime95 and ntprime version (16.5)

1998-09-27 Thread George Woltman

Hi all,

A quick note about today's new version. There is virtually
no reason to upgrade. The new features are described below. The
biggest change is that network retries will now default to 60 minutes.

The NT services version now supports ECM factoring.

Best regards,
George

New features in Version 16.5 of prime95.exe
---

1) A new httpnet.dll can provide Scott Kurowski with debugging information.
Simply create a primenet.ini file with these lines:
[Debug]
PacketLog=1
Output file is pnHttp.txt.
2) The old network retry time has been replaced by two settings.
The modem retry time (default 2 minutes) controls how often prime95
polls your modem to see if you are connected to the Internet.
The network retry time (default 60 minutes) controls how long prime95
waits after a failed attempt to contact the server.
3) A timestamp and program version number is written to the prime.log file.
4) You can now switch between HTTP-based and RPC-based PrimeNet protocols
from the Test/Primenet dialog box.
