Richard Crandall's method is not based on multiplying primes together where
the message is hard to crack because factoring is difficult.  Instead, his
method uses eliptic curve algebra and is "safe" because finding discrete 
logarithms are difficult to find.  The method is patented.  I'm under
NDA so even if I understood it at all, I can't tell you any more.
