Re: Mices scrollwheel

2002-09-04 Thread Ray G. Miller

 Ken sez,

You should just be able to just move the mouse over the field (or click in
it to plant an insertion point) and then the scroll wheel should scroll the
 field.

Doesn't do it. Not in MOS 9.2. Is this a feature of MOS X?

The scrollWheel works fine in all other apps under 9.2 tho.

Yeah, OS X only.

You're right... OS 9 won't do it, but OS X will (as well as Windows).

Don't know if this is a bug in Rev or in OS 9...

UnQuickTime Videos?

2002-09-04 Thread Thomas McCarthy

I love QuickTime, you love Quicktime--great. But there are a lot of Windows boxes out
there without QuickTime.

So, my question. Can we play native Windows video files from within MetaCard using
MCISendString?

If so,how and does anyone have a list of commands for the AVI interface?
(The previousely posted and VERY helpful web page of MCI instructions--courtesy
TactileMedia-- is too dated for video.)

Thanks in advance
Tom McCarthy

My understanding is you don't need MCISendString. MC/Rev will play movies
using whatever default multimedia features are available on the host system.
This is what we used in past projects. It's quite possible that one user or
another has no/disabled multimedia facilities on their system, so they may
get no playback. Not sure if there's way around this, but in this day and
age, the likelihood of this seems small.

In any event, set the dontUseQT to true and try playing some AVIs within MC
-- you should be able to see the movies, although you'll have less control
over playback than you get with QT.
