[meteorite-list] ACS Earth and Space Chemistry
Hi, My apologies if you receive this message twice - I'm not sure the first one got through because it was not formatted in plain text. In any event: Dont know if anybody mentioned this yet on the list, but the American Chemical Society just launched a new journal ACS Earth and Space Chemistry. You can view the first issue at no cost at http://pubs.acs.org/journal/aesccq. If you click on the icon Read the first issue for free, you will pull up a link to the article Pathways to Meteoritic Glycine and Methylamine by J. C. Ponte et al. of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the Department of Chemistry of Catholic University. Should be worth following this journal to see how meteoritics is addressed going forward. ACS does a great job with its journals. Re: [meteorite-list] Curious Iron Rocks Mystery Solved
I received many replies to this post, mostly in regards to Smokey. It seems many List members also prospect for gold and have read or heard about legendary Smokey. Here is a link that was forwarded to me that has some great pictures of this living Old West legend: http://www.billandlindaprospecting.com/smokey.html We talked for hours about treasure hunting at the Shell gas station and the real treasure was simply meeting him. He kind of reminds me of "Curly", the tough cowboy on the movie City Slickers, The Legend of Curly's Gold.. Re: [meteorite-list] new find- Phoenix
Great find, wow! My friend made a cold find as well, on a dry lake none-the-less. I don't think he posts to the metlist, but when there are pictures to share I will pass them along. Michael in so. Sorry Adam, I was way too busy to take pictures. But many people took pictures and posted them on Facebook. Anne M. Dear List Members, I could not help but notice that with the Ensisheim show coming up that there was not much fanfare about the Tucson show this year. I decided at the last minute not to attend because of the lack of social activities on the venue for meteorite people and reports that it was very, very slow. I remember a time when there were five or six get togethers at the show and you had to book a room nearly a year in advance. Speaking of social activities, did anybody take pictures of the IMCA dinner?, the sole meteorite specific activity left. I have not heard anything about it.
