No Money for Generators - Just Condoms

2009-02-03 Thread Fred B. Ellison
FEMA Dispels Rumor Regarding Disaster Recovery
Release Date: January 31, 2009
Release Number: 3303-001

» More Information on Missouri Severe Winter Storm

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A false rumor circulating in the hard-hit Bootheel and
southern Missouri areas states the Federal Emergency Management Agency will
reimburse anyone who has purchased a generator in recent weeks.

FEMA does not reimburse generator purchases, except in extremely rare
circumstances of documented medical or extraordinary needs.

FEMA leads and supports the nation in a risk-based, comprehensive emergency
management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and
mitigation, to reduce the loss of life and property and protect the nation from
all hazards including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made
disasters.

I can't go. But if you would I have some Fairtax hand outs that you may take
with you. To pass out.
When I pass these out in a meet up like this . You can see the politicians
grab for their bill fold. They act like it just vibrated or something. Their
knees get week and they slurp their speech. It's kind like handing an alkali
terrorist the King James Bible.
They start shaking after five minutes of reciting the ways it will stop them
from taxing us.
Their eyes start to turn gray after ten minutes and they begin trying to walk
away.
I wonder ? What's Up With That?

Is that what you think everyone that opposes the sales tax increase is
doing? Sniping from the sidelines?

I apologize for that. My understand about any city's leadership is that
we vote for the person whom we feel can best do the job, and then we TRUST
them to do the job. For those of us who ARE, in fact voting, we fully
expect our city's leadership to LEAD. It became apparent (for me) about 2
years ago that something was wrong with some of the decisions that were
being made; OK..this was probably going on longer than that, so when I
began to notice, it was probably already too late. Shame on me for giving
our leaders the benefit of the doubt, and thinking, well, there is more to
this situation than I'm aware of, and they know more than I do, etc. etc..
I can tell you this: NEVER AGAIN will I give ANY of our city's leaders the
benefit of the doubt to that same extent.

Once again, I have absolutely NO confidence that our city's leadership
has pulled out all of the stops to avoid this. And, you think that I have
no proof to back that up? There's no way I would say something like that
unless I knew for sure that this was true. Very few city agencies
(including City Utilities) are pinching pennies right now. Like I said
before, let someone like Nancy Melton get in there! I guarantee she could
free up thousands of dollars (I understand we're talking millions here, but
it might be fewer millions) in probably a few short minutes. What bothers
me is that we have people leading our city who have just recently declared
personal bankruptcy, yet they're hanging in there to CONTINUE to make
financial decisions for our city? Are you kidding me?

By the way, what's the fastest way for me to get my hands on the budget
for the city for the next fiscal year? I'm not just asking you, Cameron,
I'm asking anyone who knows.

Time to VOTE! Time to make a positive change in the way Springfield is run!

2009-02-03 Thread James Hornaday Jr.
People:

We have bitched and moaned a long time about the poor situation we are in.
Inadequate police protection, a council and administration that love to
frivolously spend our money for parks and money-losing developments.

Things won't change as long as the people running Springfield think we are
willing to pay for any damn thing they want. They have a mind-set for
continuing their spend-thrift habits. This is our chance to tell them a 1%
sales tax is the wrong solution to our police/fire pension deficit, and our
opportunity to get some better people on the council.

It won't happen unless we get out today and VOTE!

Fw: Trickle-Down Hypocrisy

D o w n s i z e r - D i s p a t c h

Quote of the Day: White man cuts off end of rug, sews it to other end, thinks
rug is longer.-- an old Native American joke about daylight savings time

Subject: Trickle-down hypocrisy

The Democrats sneer at Republican proposals to cut upper-bracket tax rates.
They call it trickle-down economics. But the Democrat's stimulus plan is
trickle-down economics too.

Much of the spending will go to huge institutions like construction companies
and research firms. It will have to trickle-down from there to the rest of us.

When Democratic politicians talk about the multiplier effect of government
spending, what they're really saying is I believe in trickle-down economics.
The Republicans are just as bad. They may like tax cuts, but they also run huge
deficits. The money they borrow can't be used by businesses to expand
production and hiring. The Republicans negate the economic benefit of their tax
cuts through the economic harm of their borrowing.

When Republican politicians say deficits don't matter, as they constantly do,
what they're really saying is the benefits of deficit spending will
trickle-down to the taxpayers.

Both parties believe in trickle-down economics. Both parties think they can cut
off one end of the economic rug, sew it to the other end, and the rug will be
longer.
We think differently.

The economic rug only grows longer through wise investing, and that's much more
likely to happen when people spend and invest their own money.

The only way to stimulate the economy is to deny money to the politicians and
let those who actually earned the money decide how to spend or invest it. What
we really need are massive tax cuts and massive spending cuts.

It won't be easy to make this happen, but it can never happen unless you insist
upon it. What YOU WANT must trickle-up to the politicians.

If you desire it, first you must ask for it. Doing so will make the politicians
nervous. If you also ask others to join you in pressuring Congress, and do this
repeatedly for long enough, the Downsize DC Army will gain the strength to
overwhelm the politicians. This will move the politicians from anxiety over
your protests to submission to your wishes.

The Senate is now debating the stimulus/scam bill. The Republicans could block
the bill. They need your encouragement to do so. But if the bill passes the
Senate then both chambers will have to vote again on a unified House-Senate
version. This means it's still important to keep pressuring your House member
too.
Please use our quick and easy Educate the Powerful System to tell all of our
elected Representatives to oppose the stimulus bill.

You can use your personal comments to tell Congress that the stimulus bill is
just a form of trickle-down economics that uses government spending instead of
tax cuts. Tell them you want both permanent tax cuts and permanent spending
cuts. That way nothing has to trickle-down anywhere, because people will get to
retain, spend, and invest their own money.

Please use this Dispatch to educate, recruit, and increase the pressure on
Congress. Forward this message to others and Digg it on our blog.

Larry,

Wow! I viewed all the pictures that were sent to me, and that's a much
bigger dump site than I envisioned. A mini landfill would be a better
description.
It is far beyond what most of the Stream Teams would be able to tackle.

The Stream Team Program is volunteer based, and a typical Team is made up by
one of the following: An individual, a family, a youth organization, church,
or business. We at the Stream Team Program help support the activities of the
volunteers by providing them materials and advice for the activities they
undertake. These activities include, but are not limited to, litter pickups,
and
water quality monitoring. We also provide education on various aspects of
stream health in order to create a more informed citizen with the tools he or
she needs to make a difference. In parts of the state some Teams have banded
together to form Stream Team Associations. These Associations are able to
accomplish some amazing things, and have organized some very large cleanups of
their adopted rivers and streams. Unfortunately, there are too few
Associations
around the state and none in your area to make aware.

I don't want to leave you too disheartened. Spots like that disgust us all,
and there are too many just like what you've encountered. However, I would
imagine your local news media would find this Wilson's Creek site very
newsworthy, and may provide the attention needed to get the county involved in
cleaning
this up.

I suspect you where hoping that the Stream Team Program was just the right
organization to take care of this Wilson's Creek dump. If there was such an
organization there would be no end to work that need to be accomplished.

Sincerely,

2009-02-03 Thread larmelton3
Dear Larry,

Thanks to the pushback from taxpayers like you, many moderate
Senators (both Democrats and Republicans) are backing away from
the $1 trillion+ spendulus plan. This is great news!

But we've got to keep up the momentum. NTU is doing our part to
torpedo this disastrous plan, like meeting with Senate staffers
and going on Fox Business News
[http://blog.ntu.org/main/post.php?post_id=4233] to talk about
the ridiculous spending in the bill.

Won't you do your part to clinch this win for taxpayers?

Please call your Senators right away and ask them to VOTE NO on
the stimulus hoax!

Call Senator Christopher Bond at
(202) 224-5721.

Call Senator Claire McCaskill at
(202) 224-6154.

Points to remember when you make those calls:

* Bloated government budgets simply don't make economies soar.
Spending willy-nilly didn't work in the 1970s, the last time
Washington tried spending its way out of a slump. It won't work
now.

* Spending on pet projects for political supporters (like buying
federal bureaucrats new office furniture) will do little to
nothing to promote sustainable, long-term economic growth.

* It would be an outrage to add $6,700 to each household's
share of the national debt to pay for a desperate attempt to do
something, anything about the economy.

* Low tax rates will do much more over the short and long term
to expand prosperity in America.

* Vote NO on S. 1!

Every call made by taxpayers like you will help turn the tide
against this harmful plan! Thank you in advance for picking up
the phone and making these two crucial calls.

Go the extra mile! Please call your Senators' district offices.
You can find those phone numbers on your Senators' Web site
[http://senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm].

Sincerely,

Your NTU Grassroots Action Team

Fwd: [Fwd: Fw: NAIS Alert - Comments Urgently Needed!]

2009-02-03 Thread Tom Martz
February 2, 2009
Animal owners, consumers and taxpayers:
NAIS ALERT!
Protect your right to farm and the food supply!

The USDA has proposed a rule to mandate premises registration under the
National Animal Identification System (NAIS) for existing disease control
programs. The draft rule covers programs for cattle, sheep, goats, and
swine, but it sets the stage for the entire NAIS program to be mandated for
everyone.

It is critical that the USDA and Congress hear from the hundreds of
thousands of people who will be adversely affected by the NAIS program. This
includes anyone who owns even one livestock animal (including a single
chicken or a horse), as well as consumers who care about local and
sustainable foods, taxpayers who object to wasteful government programs, and
advocates for a safer food system.

*STEP 1: Submit comments to USDA online or by mail. The comments must be
received by USDA by March 16, 2009.*

You can submit comments online by clicking
herehttp://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/component/main?main=DocketDetaild=APHIS-2007-0096.
Click on the yellow balloon under add comments.

Or mail two copies of your comments to USDA.

Regulatory Analysis and Development, PPD, APHIS
Station 3A-03.8

Riverdale, MD 20737-1238

Clearly state that your comments refer to Docket No. APHIS-2007-0096.

(Sample comments are at the end of this alert.)

*STEP 2: Send a copy of your comments to your Congressman and Senators.*

You can find who represents you, and their contact information by clicking
here http://www.congress.org
Background

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been working for over five
years to force a National Animal Identification System (NAIS) onto American
animal owners. NAIS is designed to identify and track each and every
individual livestock and poultry animal owned by family farmers, hobby
farmers, homesteaders, and pet owners across the country.

USDA claims that NAIS is a disease tracking program, but has refused to
provide any support for its claims. In reality, NAIS will:

   - Usurp states' existing, well-functioning disease response and brand
   inspection programs;
   - Impose high costs and government surveillance on every farmer and
animal owner for no significant benefits.

NAIS does nothing to improve food safety for consumers or prevent animal
diseases. This program is a one-size-fits-all program developed by and for
big Agribusiness. NAIS will increase consolidation of our food supply in the
hands of a few large companies and put the brakes on the growing movement
toward regional food systems.

Despite promises to the contrary, the USDA's new proposed rule would make
portions of the NAIS mandatory for thousands of people in every state. This
draft rule would mandate the first step – premises registration – for anyone
who is involved in a federal disease control program. That includes
tuberculosis, brucellosis, scrapie, Johne's and more. *The NAIS Premises
Identification Number (PIN) will become the only form of premises
identification acceptable for official USDA purposes, with no opt-out
provision.*

The proposed rule would also limit official Animal Identification Numbers to
the NAIS-compliant 840-numbering system, laying the groundwork for future
regulations that would limit people's options on the types of tags they
could use.

*The proposed rule is not final yet.* You can help *stop it* by visiting the
Federal Registry and making a
commenthttp://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/component/main?main=DocketDetaild=APHIS-2007-0096,
and click on the yellow balloon under add comments. Be sure to send a copy
of your comments to your elected officials, letting them know how you feel
about NAIS.

The grassroots movement has already successfully stalled USDA's plans for
NAIS, which originally called for the entire program - premises
registration, animal identification, and tracking - to be mandatory by
January 2009. The proposed rule is an opportunity to get thousands of
objections in the formal record, and have an even greater impact. It is
imperative that people speak up to protect our right to farm and our food
supply!

general seat A Supporters of Fred Ellison and Tom Martz watched the
returns come in from Buffalo Wild Wings and it was a very uplifting night as
not only did Fred and Tom move on to the general election but fellow fiscal
conservatives Chris Donegan and Nick Ibarra moved on as well.

Many people believe we have the establishment candidates vs the fresh faces
around town. No matter who gets elected there will be a change of people on
city council and hopefully a new direction of course as well. Springfield
does many things right but they also do quite a bit incorrectly and it is
time the people take back the power and they did so by defeating the 1%
sales tax increase which was asked for to fund the police and fire pension
retirement plan.

Now is the time to come together to offer solutions on how we believe the
pension problem can be solved and take it to the people.
