The membership is a credit, you pay me $400, $600, or any dollar figure above
$400, you have that credited to your account.
The membership entitles you to receive the following discounts on your
purchases:

Eggs will be $3.50 per dozen instead of $4.00
5% discount on all chicken products.
5% discount on all turkey products.
10% discount on all individual cuts of pork.
10% discount on all individual cuts of beef.

Website Updates

We've made just a few changes to the website.

New Donation Payment Provider
Based on your feedback, we moved away from using PayPal as our payment gateway
for donations.  We discovered a great alternative service that offers us better
tools for managing your donations, and for about the same fees that PayPal
charged.

Promotional Materials Available
A Promotional Items link has been added to the site.  On that page you can
now download a simple pdf flyer to print and distribute.

We have also created a few images for website owners to include on their site
to link back to us.

For anyone who so desires, we have also added the code to include our donation
button on your website or social networking page.

Database In Place
Our site has been moved to its new server, and a database is now in place.  We
will be adding many features in the coming weeks that will help us to better
organize information and provide a rich user experience for you on our site.

New Mailing List Provider
We have moved to a more robust mailing list provider that allows us to better
communicate with you, our supporters.  We already have over 2,600 subscribers.
Not too bad for a movement that is under two weeks old!  Keep up the great work
and spread the word!  By the way, did you notice that in each newsletter there
is the option to forward it to a friend? (hint hint)
What's Coming Up

Terri is working on a volunteer signup form, which will allow people to also
indicate their interest in becoming a regional march coordinator for their home
state.
We are working to create more designs and promotional items for you, including
t-shirts and bumper stickers. If you are a printer and could help us out with
printing bumper stickers and the like, please let us know.
The site will be redesigned to accomodate the addition of new features, as well
as make it friendlier to some of our dial-up supporters.
Stay tuned for more...
And thanks for your patience!  This is our passion, but we have day jobs, too,
and sometimes we have to juggle the workload a bit.  ;)

And Speaking of Donations...

A huge THANK YOU to all of you who have donated.  There is quite a bit of
expense involved in putting an event of this magnitude together, so your
generosity is greatly appreciated.

If you are so inclined, you may donate by clicking on the button below, which
will take you to our secured payment form.  We are all unpaid volunteers, so
your donations go directly to expenses incurred for putting the march together!

Thanks for your continued support.  United we stand!

Sincerely,
Second Amendment March

Our Mission

The mission of the Second Amendment March is to galvanize the courage and
resolve of American gun owners; to petition our elected officials against
establishing anti-gun legislation; and to remind America that the Second
Amendment is necessary to maintain our right to self defense.
It is the one right that protects
all others.
We will accomplish our mission by a centralized, peaceful march on the United
States Capitol, supported by satellite marches to State Capitols and smaller
cities all across America.

The 2009 National Infrastructure Protection Plan

2009-02-19 Thread larmelton3
The 2009 National Infrastructure Protection Plan
 (http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/NIPP_Plan.pdf) The National
Infrastructure Protection Plan provides the unifying structure for the
integration of a
wide range of efforts for the enhanced protection and resiliency of the
nation's
_critical infrastructure and key resources (CIKR)_
(http://www.dhs.gov/xprevprot/programs/gc_1189168948944.shtm) into a single
national program.
The overarching goal of the NIPP is to build a safer, more secure, and more
resilient America by preventing, deterring, neutralizing, or mitigating the
effects of deliberate efforts by terrorists to destroy, incapacitate, or
exploit
elements of our nation's CIKR and to strengthen national preparedness, timely
response, and rapid recovery of CIKR in the event of an attack, natural
disaster, or other emergency.
The 2009 NIPP replaces the 2006 version and reflects changes and updates to
program elements and concepts. It captures the evolution and maturation of the
processes and programs first outlined in 2006 without changing the underlying
policies. The revised NIPP integrates the concepts of resiliency and
protection, and broadens the focus of NIPP-related programs and activities to
an
all-hazards environment.

Fwd: New Entry at Framing the Questions

2009-02-19 Thread Tom Martz
Apparently my opponent has never looked at the CIP which was passed by a 4-1
ratio. Had he actually looked at the document he would find that there was
NOT a listed project which said we are going to spend $600,000+ on signage
around the city so private enterprises don't have to pay for advertising any
longer.

Framing the Questions published a new entry entitled Is That
Printer's Ink on Your Chin? on 2/19/2009 8:57:38 PM, written by R Stephens.

Is That Printer's Ink on Your Chin?

The local daily paper seems to be dribbling printer's ink out both
sides of its mouth.

Three weeks ago, in an editorial suggesting that readers reject the
1% tax for the Police and Firefighters Pension Plan, the writer suggested
that one reason was that previous City Councils had not made full payments
into the plan. Because of better than expected investment returns, the
Council had put some funds into other projects and services. The writer
criticized the Council's exercising its judgment and authority to move funds
from one project to another.

Fine. I have no problem with that opinion nor with the criticism
leveled at our city management.

However, my problem with the local Editorial Board begins with its
complete inconsistency. In an editorial this week, it scolded the Council
for voting to approve the purchase of signage designed to help visitors get
around Springfield. The writer's rationale was that Council should use that
money for other, more pressing issues.

You can't have it both ways. The voters approved—by a margin of
four to one—a very rigidly defined list of projects to be completed with
their tax money over a three-year period. The wayfinding signs are one such
project on that list.

Can you imagine the editorial bile that would spew forth if City
Council were to stop the purchase of the signs and divert that money
elsewhere? The editorialists would go nuts. However, this won't occur
because the Council cannot legally take money from one tax-revenue account
and apply it to another project.

Then, more recently, the Sunday editorial suggests studying the
option of pension obligation bonds to satisfy the pension shortfall. This
option moves the debt from one column to another. By selling bonds, you
are essentially borrowing money in order to pay off another debt. In other
words, as some consumers have done, you simply pay off one credit card
balance by transferring it to another credit card. You're not any better
off; you still owe the debt; you simply owe it to a different entity plus
you owe even more interest on the debt.

The writer then suggests that our investment returns after making
the pension whole would average around 7.5%. Good gosh, if the returns
were 7.5%, we wouldn't be in the situation we are now! They then further
suggest that, with higher returns, we might not have to make the City's full
payment into the pension plan. Maybe I'm reading the paper incorrectly, but
within the last month, the editorialists have criticized Council for these
very actions.

The voters approved the CIP tax by a vote of 4-1 and defeated the
pension tax increase by around 800 votes. In spite of the editorialists and
the candidates who can't seem to understand, the voters' decisions should
not be tampered with. The voters can change their minds and there are
mechanisms to initiate petitions to repeal their decisions.

However, given our representative democracy, it is either simple
ignorance or supreme arrogance for an editorial writer or a Council
candidate to think that his or her personal ideas are superior to a decision
by voters.
