The 1960 copyright date is also a good giveaway. back in the old days,
copyrights were for 28 years and then there was a renewal period of another 28
years, so this reprint is showing the updated copyright.
But yes, the fact that the copy is printed showing the original border of the
lobby is also a dea giveaway it is a reprint.

I was just looking at the ebay movie items and saw this wolfman lobby listed:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Wolf-Man-Authentic-Lobby-Card-/251181651209?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0hash=item3a7b97d509

The mp462 on the bottom I believe is a code put on it when it was reproduced
since I have seen something like that on stills that were copied and sold. It
also appears to have a brighter stripe around the outside border as it the
paper it was copied on was slightly larger than the item copied. Anyones
thoughts?

Re: [MOPO] Remembering eBay's glory days

2012-11-13 Thread filip de volder

well , a lot has become better , rip-offs have calmed down a lot , paypal did a
lot for that ...some negative changes happened too : no more negative
feedback can be left for buyers , fees went up a lot , now you even get
charged 10% on your postage fees ...taking everything in consideration i
think ebay now is a lot better then what it used to be ... from a commercial
point of view ... as for putting up worthless garbage and selling it , i don't
know as i don't sell and heve never sold that much of what i would consider
being worthless garbage , i'd consider wortless garbage to be easily available
material in very bad condition ... every so often we all get a message from
emovieposter.com saying they take anything in consignment , they can sell what
is considered crap , and 2 hours before every auction ends there's always tons
of their posters still sitting under 5$ , so i guess it's all about what you're
selling , be it on ebay or on emovieposter.com , apparently some sellers sell
a lot of what they consider worthless garbage and make money this way , it's a
strange point of view towards all those collectors who have an interest in what
Bruce considers wortless garbage , i'd say there is this really strong smell of
lack of respect towards these collectors ... whatever ... filip

Remember when lots of eBay auctions would have L@@K or W@W at the end of

Remember when there was just ONE movie poster category and you could look over

Remember when any image of a barechested male would have GAY INTEREST in the

Remember when you could leave feedback for any seller, even if you hadn't

[MOPO] eBay's changes to Watched Items

2012-11-13 Thread Neil Jaworski
Hallo MOPO

To slightly extend the Ebay conversation, what do people think of the current
changes to Watching re: (1) the trial of publicly showing the numbers of
Watchers on each item page and (2) the constant removal/reinstatement of the
row of See What Other People Are Watching items at the bottom of each item
page?

The See What Other People Are Watching panel has been very useful to me in
the past!

My other current bugbear is that I have been blocked by at least one seller for
forgetting to leave positive feedback!  I just didn't get round to it, but feel
that being blocked was a bit of a harsh solution.  Other than that, the
transaction at both ends had gone smoothly without incident.

Being blocked for not leaving feedback is ridiculous. Many people don't leave
feedback these days mostly because they don't see it as a necessary part of the
transaction or because they just forget. After all, when you buy something from
Heritage or from Bruce you don't need to leave feedback (although I'm sure they
both receive many positive emails!).
