[mou-net] Juncos/Fox, Song, Chipping Sparrows, Dakota Co

2018-04-14 Thread Molly Miller
I once again have about 50 juncos in the yard. I finally took the time to scan
them and found at least 3 Song Sparrows, 2 Fox Sparrows and 1 tiny Chipping
Sparrow! I took a photo with a Fox Sparrow, junco and Chipping Sparrow because
I was amazed to see the difference in size! These sparrows were all first of
year for me. I thought I was going to find a Tree Sparrow in the lot, but that
was not the case.

Hope the birds remain safe in this blizzard!

[mou-net] Juncos - Franklin's gulls

2011-09-28 Thread Betsy Beneke
Stearns County
Three juncos were at the house at Avon, Stearns County on 09-27, along with a
bunch of yellow-rumped warblers (15-18).

Stearns, Wright Meeker Counties
Flocks of Franklin's gulls were hawking insects over lakes and large wetlands.
I'm sure in all I saw over 1000 birds.  There were ring-billed gulls as well,
but perhaps only 100 or so total, and mostly only over larger lakes.

Sherburne County
There were 2 juncos under my bird feeder at Sherburne NWR headquarters this
afternoon.

[mou-net] juncos sapsuckers

2011-04-03 Thread Betsy Beneke
In the yard this morning were 78 dark-eyed juncos, and a pair of yellow-bellied
sapsuckers.  A broad-winged hawk has made several passes over the house and
wooded area as well.
