I have only an old VC4 on my Win95 installation and it's true that
ICL is moaning a bit, but it bites :)

just say you have an VC6 on your desk and go thru' it
open a DOS-Box, make sure you have 'doskey' loaded

run the following batches to set up your environment
   C:\msdev\bin\vcvars32.bat
   C:\Programme\Intel\compiler45\bin\iccvars.bat

go into your LAME source directory and type 'nmake -f Makefile.MSVC'

wait some seconds and run lame

thx ! Worked !

[MP3 ENCODER] Problems under MSVC 6

2000-07-05 Thread Karsten Luetkewitz

Hi !

I grabbed the latest CVS source for 3.56 and compiled it with DJGPP /
MSVC standard edition. While I was able to achieve 2.9x realtime
encoding with DJGPP the MSVC output only produced 0.9x realtime (while
both exes produce the exactly same output) :( I tried both, the
workspace file (release option w/o GTK) and the included makefile.msvc.
I played around with compiling options in both files but got no higher
than 1.2x realtime. I don't have any clue what optimal options to
choose to achieve higher rates ... If anyone has a hint what options produce
the fastest result in MSVC I'd be grateful.

I have not tested it heavily. Bug reports are welcome.

Absolutly nice. But I have some mp3s the plugin plays half the way and
then proceeds to the next song. I can't tell what the problem is
because it happens only on certain songs (songs which I haven't encoded
for myself - so I don't know the encoder / settings used)
