As the website says, hobbitmon is an development based on bigbrother,
 adding graphs and reporting.

When you compare it to nagios, you should have a look to the 'reporting'
section in nagios' navigation on the left.

Nagios itself is not capable of diffencing between more than 4 states
(ok, warning, critical, unknown), the reporting can only tell you
something about availability of a host or service. For long term graphs,
you have to extend your nagios installation with an addon like
NagiosGrapher, PerfParse etc. - have a look at
 http://www.nagiosexchange.org.

[Nagios-users] Check file existence

2006-06-27 Thread Elizar M. Palad
Hi List,

Is there such a plugin that only check if a file exist?
I want to nagios to check if a file was created after a cron job.

Critical if no file was generated and ok if there is.

Thanks!
Jac

I'm not sure of the usage of this plugin, but you could investigate
check_file. It would run across NRPE. I use the check_yum plugin from
these folks, but haven't used the check_file. I just remember seeing it.

[Nagios-users] Service Check Timeout for check_process_remote

2006-06-08 Thread Elizar M. Palad
Hi everyone!

Im wondering why i am having this error,
Service Check Timeout for check_process_remote
check_load_remote etc plugins..

This is my second setup of nagios, the first one is still
up without this error. First one is in Solaris 2.5 and this
one im trying to set up is for Fedora 5.

I can connect to the client host just fine tru rsh, setup
$HOME/.rhosts.. but when i manually execute
./check_process_remote -s rsh -H client_host -p cron

take too long to display.. (in web interface service check timeout)

Any help appreciated.. this is working on my solaris box.
Thanks!

Eli

[Nagios-users] check_disk_remote question

2006-01-22 Thread Elizar M. Palad
Hi List!

I have check_disk_remote script working for
my nagios box to check the disk of remote solaris
boxes, those old ones.

Currently it shows:
-
CRITICAL: /opt is 90% (threshold c = 90%)

Data: /=76%;;;0;100 /usr=88%;;;0;100 /export=46%;;;0;100
/export/home=64%;;;0;100 /opt=90%;;;0;100
-

Which is true, i set Critical to 90% and Warning at 80%
My concern is that when '/' reaches something like
92% or anything higher that '/opt' (90%)
the notification still says critical for /opt!
don't it suppose to email that root (/) is higher and
more critical?

Thanks!
Eli,
