instead of ping now I use nrpe, sorry for the noise.

Thanks.

 Hi
 I reviewed my alerts and increased the service check interval as this:

 this is the service

 notifications_enabled   1
 notification_optionsw,c
 notification_period 24x7
 check_period24x7
 check_interval  10
 max_check_attempts  3
 first_notification_delay0
 notification_interval   15

 This is the host:

 check_interval  1
 check_period24x7
 notification_period 24x7
 max_check_attempts  3
 notification_interval   10
 flap_detection_enabled  0
 first_notification_delay0

 So, the host is checked every one minute and on the third failure the
 alert gets fired, for the service I increased it to check every 10 minutes,
 so in theory the hosts check happens firts withing 3 minutes, as the
 service is checked every 10 I should not get any alert on them, but I still
 get the service notifications after the hosts is down.

 Any help appreciated.
 Thanks for your time and support.

[Nagios-users] Adding Performance Data to a Plugin

2013-04-24 Thread Net Warrior
Hi guys.

I made my own check_disk plugin which is working fine, now I realized that
it does not return any performance data information like the original
check_disk, when I checked nagiograph I realized that the information was
old, related to the original check_disk plugin when I was implementing
nagiosgraph.

This is what the original plugin returns:
DISK OK - free space: /home 367 MB (89% inode=98%);| /home=43MB;343;;0;433

The plugin is made in bash, can someone guide me or give me an example code
about how to add that functionality to my script? In the example above the
plugin returns  ;| /home=43MB;343;;0;433, how's that calculated?

Thank you very much for your time and support
Best Regards.

 But from nagios I get:
  free space: /home 0 MB (0% inode=94%): Do not know where on earth the
 inode information is taken from and is not the format expected I want this:

 This looks like the normal output of check_disk plugin out of the
 official Nagios Plugins.

 If you want your script to run, you will have to change your NRPE command
 (if you do the remote checks with nrpe).

[Nagios-users] My Own Plugin Issues

2013-04-17 Thread Net Warrior
Hi guys.
I tried to create my own plugin to check disk space and I'm almost done
except that the plugin is not returning the expected data:
If i run the plugn from the command line I get:

/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_diskl.sh 80 90 /home
Critical  Disk Space /home - Total: 985M - Usado: 970M - Libre 0

But from nagios I get:
 free space: /home 0 MB (0% inode=94%): Do not know where on earth the
inode information is taken from and is not the format expected I want this:

Critical  Disk Space /home - Total: 985M - Usado: 970M - Libre 0

My script ends with
echo $RESULT
exit 0;

Where result is:
RESULT=$NOMBREDIR  Total: $ESPACIOTOTAL  Usado: $ESPACIOUSADO  Libre
$ESPACIOLIBRE

This is the final part :
-- snip---

if [  $PORCENTAJE -ge $CRIT  ]; then
echo Critical $RESULT;
exit 2;
fi

if [ $PORCENTAJE -ge $WARN ]; then
echo Warning  $RESULT;
exit 1;
fi

echo $RESULT
exit 0;

I'm ai missing something else?

Any advice really appreciated
Thanks

 Hi.

 ** **

 I’m guessing that some others on the list will weigh in with some better
 options for you, but if you’d like to have a look at what I use, I’ve
 posted it on Nagios Exchange (
 http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Plugins/System-Metrics/File-System/check_disk_snmp/details
 ).

 ** **

 I ended up writing my own (in Perl) to get some of the extra features.
 One of those features is an attempt to give you more information about the
 disk (e.g. what the threshold for alerting is set at, the percent full as
 well as how much is left:

 ** **

 DISK CRITICAL - [Threshold=95%, 96% full,14.1gb free on /snapshot]
 [Threshold=95%, 96% full,10.0gb free on /photos]

 ** **

 The rest of the features are detailed on that page.

 ** **

 Hope it helps,

[Nagios-users] Help with CPU Check Thresholds

2013-03-26 Thread Net Warrior
This is how I configured the service, my aim is to get an alert when
the CPU load ( uptime ) reaches 10% and a critical when there is a
20%

check_command   check_nrpe!check_load!10,4,3!20,15,10
flap_detection_enabled  0
notifications_enabled   1
notification_optionsw,u,r,c
notification_period 24x7
check_period24x7
check_interval  1
max_check_attempts  2
first_notification_delay0
notification_interval   1
}

The problems is that I get WARN when the load is less than that:
WARNING - load average: 1.77, 1.94, 3.04
WARNING - load average: 2.11, 2.23, 3.45
WARNING - load average: 1.90, 3.59, 4.34
WARNING - load average: 5.65, 5.05, 4.86

Any help appreciated.
Thanks for your time and support.

You are right, it was a misunderstanding of the plugin behaviour.

My appologies, sorry for the noise.
Thanks you.

 You configured it to warn when the 15-minute average is 3.00, and
 in your above four examples, the 15-minute averages are all 3.00.
 It is working like you configured it to.

 The plugin's output is 1-minute, 5-minute, and 15-minute average.

[Nagios-users] Custom Remote Commands

2012-08-30 Thread Net Warrior
Hi There
Just was wondering if there is a way to customize the list of host
commands list that are shown on the right column when you click on a
host.
There you can see, show the host in the map, send custom host notification.

I'd like to add something like, reboot the server for example, that
would be very usefull, maybe someone manage to do this this way or
another.
The problem is when the server is not accessible over ssh but
pingable, so I guess that with can use ipmi, or fired reboot command
by other means.

Any thought on this are appreciated.
Thanks

  Your should look at the log before the service notification was

  because the host was down. I'm 90% sure the reason why your host down

  came back online before it was determined to be in a hard state. And you
  didn't post your linux-server template config so you will have to check

  For my host objects I set a retry_interval of 1 and max_check_attemps of

and in the logs I got
[1346196987.097821] [032.0] [pid=21145] ** Service Notification

The host is either down or unreachable --- Of coure, so why the
notification was not fired?

Any idea what could be wrong?, I got some notification with other host
and all have the same configuration, I have already restarted nagios

Thanks for your time and support

Re: [Nagios-users] sms alert notification in Nagios 3.4.1

2012-08-28 Thread Net Warrior
Hi
I use my own internal sms system to send alerts, long time ago I use
the mobile company service to send
and email in a format like 84848...@sms.company.com

You only have to define your own command or use the one already
defined in command.cfg
If you want I can share with you how I did it, it is easy.

but basically after you define the command you define in contacts.cfg

srvice_notification_commands   send-sms-service,notify-service-by-email
 host_notification_commands  send-sms-host,notify-host-by-email

send-sms is my own defined command which fires up lynx pointing to an
intranet where the
sms service runs.

Re: [Nagios-users] Notification did not execute

2012-08-28 Thread Net Warrior
Thanks for your advice, I know what you mean, but this is not the case
unfortunately, In the logs I can see the 3 time check was reached and
the alarm did not fired, now the server is up and I did not get the
notification the server is back on line either.

Is critical and not SOFT for the host and the service
[1346193488] HOST ALERT: hostname;DOWN;HARD;3;(Host Check Timed Out)
[1346193328] SERVICE ALERT: hostname;SSH;CRITICAL;HARD;3;CRITICAL -
Socket timeout after 30 seconds

[1346198377] HOST ALERT: hostname;UP;SOFT;3;PING OK - Packet loss =
0%, RTA = 4.84 ms

This is weird.

Thanks for your time and support

 Your should look at the log before the service notification was suppressed
 because the host was down. I'm 90% sure the reason why your host down
 notification was not sent was because the host was in a soft state type and
 came back online before it was determined to be in a hard state. And you
 didn't post your linux-server template config so you will have to check your
 and retry_interval definition.

 For my host objects I set a retry_interval of 1 and max_check_attemps of 2
 in the template so I get notified a little quicker when a host goes down.

[Nagios-users] My Own Command Deinifition Weird Behavior.

2012-08-16 Thread Net Warrior
Hi there guys.

I defined my own command to use an internal sms sistems, so we can send an
sms alert along with the e-mail ones.
This is what the script do.
#!/bin/bash

HOST=$1
STATE=$2
lynx http://server:/SMSService/$HOST-State-$STATE

The command definition is:

# send-sms
define command{
   command_name   send-sms
   command_line /path/sms.sh $HOSTNAME$ $SERVICESTATE$
   }

The problem is that with some host I receive the SERVICESTATE condition, Ok
or Critical, but with others dont, only get $
As I can see on the debug file:

Processed notification command: /path/sms.sh server333 CRITICAL - This is
good
Processed notification command: /path/sms.sh server333 OK - This is good

But for the other servers I get:

Processed notification command: /path/sms.sh server222 $SERVICESTATE$ -
Only get the variable name instead its content, ok or critical.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance.

2012-08-16 Thread Net Warrior
Yes, you are right, after I fired the mail to the list, I checked that, my
appologies, I notice that host uses HOSTSTATE and service uses
SERVICESTATE, I changed that and defined two commands instead, gonna see if
that fix the problem

service_notification_commands   send-sms-service,notify-service-by-email
host_notification_commands  send-sms-host,notify-host-by-email

command_line /path/sms.sh $HOSTNAME$ $HOSTSTATE$
command_line /path/sms.sh $HOSTNAME$ $SERVICESTATE$

Thank you vey much, sorry for the noise.
Best regards

2012/8/16 mohamed ben romdhane med_li...@yahoo.fr

 Hi,
 try to use the attribute $SERVICESTATEID$ (A number that corresponds to
 the current state of the service: 0=OK, 1=WARNING, 2=CRITICAL, 3=UNKNOWN.)

 Best regards,
 Mohamed

[Nagios-users] Notification Issue - Only Executing One Method

2012-08-03 Thread Net Warrior
Hi there list.
I'm having an issue with the notifiactions, I 'm using
nagios-3.4.1-2.el6.x86_64, this is my configuration:

define contact{
contact_namenagiosadmin ; Short name of user
use generic-contact ; Inherit
default values from generic-contact template (defined above)
alias   Administrador Nagios; Full name
of user
host_notifications_enabled  1
service_notifications_enabled   1
service_notification_period 24x7
host_notification_period24x7
service_notification_optionsw,u,c,r
host_notification_options   d,u,r
service_notification_commands   send-sms
service_notification_commands   notify-service-by-email
host_notification_commands  notify-host-by-email
email   u...@domain.com
can_submit_commands 1
}

My aim with this configuration is to receive an SMS along with the email
notification, but only one of them is executed, with the configuration
above on the the sms is received
if I comment the send-sms method I receive the mail, but both enabled do
not work, I enabled some debug and there is no errors such as , cannot
execute one or another, in
the logs I only see that only one is executed but not both.

Any ideas what am I doing wrong? If you need more information just let me
know.
