Dawn, It must be the lot then!! I have three bottles of Hawaiian Orchid; first coat goes on a pinky opaque a,d the second pulls a purple opaque. The SOG is soo sheer. ALL the SO axxium are sheer. Now the darks are pretty cool. I love the LPAD; the Strawberry Margarita is true to the polish. Let's see how the four new colors fare. I found when I first started using the sogs that I would need many coats but when I used a toothpick and gave the gel a good mixing, making sure to get right to the bottom, I would only need the recommended 2 coats. I've been doing them for about a year now... But they are just catching on in my area in the past couple months. It does take some practice cuz every nail is different with positioning so it lays smooth but once you get it, it's great!!! I know once pedi season hits here on upstate NY... I charge $60. For minx hands or feet. Also, I charge an additional $10.00 for silver or gold minx due to the demand. On my menu I have them listed as Platinum and 24kt Gold. They get a mini mani/pedi and minx application. For an additional $25.00, I will soak, buff and exfoliate the feet. We get about 10 - 20 calls per week for Minx and even more if someone is on tv or in a magazine w/it. If you see it in print, but it...the calls will follow. Just to add one other point. In my opinion it takes the same amount of time to do hands or feet, therefore I charge the same for either or. Truthfully, you use less Minx on feet than you do on hands but it stays better on feet. Also, when a guest calls to inquire about Minx, I am very honest about the wearability on hands vs feet. Maureen, I think the better thing for the nails is the SOG. Minx will never go over in my area. I could never command that amount of money. I am already booking bling toes this week, so that is more what WILL go in my area. My Dear Lynnette, I never thought I would hear you say you couldn't do something. ;) YOU are Lynnette and you can do all things... Everybody- I have had a client wear minx on her feet for up to 10 weeks and she cut her toenails. I had a client go on vacation and steam room and they lasted 8.5 wks. Hands is another story but you just have to be honest. I tell clients up to a week and that it is a special occasion service when applied on the hands. Another thing is I have one guest who makes me put a gel topcoat on her and they last up to 3 weeks. She use to wear SOG. I don't recommend the gel topcoat but it works for her. Keep in mind that there is a customer base for minx where ever you live. This is a service that celebs wear and clients can have. Minx is not like the Christian Lubitan(?) shoes or the next great Prada bag. It's affordable and within reach. You offer minx, the minx client will come to you...promise. There is a client for SOG and a client for minx and one for rockstar. You have to be versatile in what you offer. Finally, you charge what your PROFESSIONAL market will bear. The NSS is not your competition only the professional salon. Even in Chicago, there are some salons far less expensive than I am. There are salons that do a full pedi and minx for $60 or minx for $35.00 for the application. Okay, nail family that's my two cents for the night. I am pretty conservative also. I wear mostly shear pink on my nails however, I have been loving dark shades this winter. I can do the solids and fishnets on my fingers but, I am not so sure about the patterns. Besides getting so thick I think not matching the last batch is also what we have come to expect from them. Denise, I told Lynnette about this when SHE asked the same question go for it and buy the kit..it is 99.00 but includes a brush, which I think make it or breaks it for applying the SO gel polish. Gees I can't remember exactly but it has like 6 colors and bond-aid and NAS 99 in it. I haven't tried a lot of different companies but I have tried a couple and so far AXXIUM is my choice.
