Hello, I'm in favor of closing this list.
I've been using OSM for 5+ years now, and really happy with it. I started contributing only recently, and I joined all the mailing lists I could find at the time. As a newbie I found that the documentation is quite scattered, so maybe the last few posts on this list could be a summary of the resource base for newbies.
