Aditya,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I am talking about Metapost
version 9.1 ---
a version that originally was developed by Taco for mainframe
computers --- not for PC's. Later in was adapted for PC's but I do not
know how to install it. I am using WinEdt

Assuming that you are also using miktex, just do a miktex update. The
new version of metapost will get installed. I have

I regenerated the formats with

   texmfstart newtexexec --make --all

and after that, the problem was gone. Probably because texexec and
newtexexec read different variables from texmf.cnf.

I have a similar problem. Attached is the (not so) minimal example
that I could prepare. (This is part of my way on mathalignment). See
the page break on page 2, while all the page is empty. Adding
\kern\zeropoint prevents the page break. But I find such an page break
 very confusing.

btw, you need to patch core-mat.tex :

 \doif = \doifsomething

   \doifsomething{\formulaparameter\c!margin}% so we test first
 {\dosetleftskipadaption{\formulaparameter\c!margin}%
  \edef\leftdisplaymargin{\the\leftskipadaption}}% overloaded

it seems that this was never encountered

 This doesn't seem to work. Changing line 303 of core-mat.tex \doif =
\doifsomething and regenerating formats, does not change the output of
the test file. I still get the incorrect page breaking.

no, this patch is not related to the pagebreak but needed anyway (you're
just lucky for not running into that bug) ; the pagebreak is just the
result of background going crazy (well, not being able to determine if
there is enough space left)

[NTG-context] again: new module mechanism

2006-04-10 Thread Thomas A. Schmitz
All, and esp. Hans, Taco,

I'm still experimenting with the new moduleparameter mechanism. One
thing I can't get to work is using it in a \definefont. Here's my
minimal example:

\startmodule[mymod]

\unprotect

\setupmodule[font=Times]

\definefontsynonym[Times][ec-TimesNewRoman] % valid name

\definefont[myfont][\currentmoduleparameter{font}]

\message{The myfont is \currentmoduleparameter{font}}

\protect
\stopmodule
\endinput

\usemodule[mymod][font=Times]

\starttext

Hello world!

In the log file, I get:

Thinking about a feature request:

I very frequentely set every third (3,6,9,...) row with gray background

\start ... \stop mark the boundaries of the local (layout) setup, which
is defined between \startlocal ... \stoplocal. This way you don't need
to redefine your old layout after a local (one page) style change.
ConTeXt returns to the prior layout automatically.

So deleting them is no good idea (results in extra work for you) :)

[NTG-context] beta

2006-04-10 Thread Hans Hagen
Hi,

a uploaded a beta:

- TABLE - n/m cell access
- regimes - more and better (for mojca to check)
- french - mp actrive ; fix

- for testers only:

you can make a tree, say:

.../tex/texmf-beta

and unzip context in there

then you can say (windows):

SET TEXMFBETA=.../tex/texmf-beta

and run

newtexexec --beta --make
newtexexec --beta somefile

this test tree is plugged into TEXMFPROJECT which should be part of your
texmf.cnf setup

2006-04-10 Thread Miguel Queiros
Hello Peter,

Yes, I noticed that... :)

If you can make a minimal example of your buffer problems...

Ok, I'v attached the example. It seems that If I use
\start \startlocal and \stop and \stoplocal I get some errors...

Thanks for your help!

Serves me right ... coming up with my own lingo ... my document is doubly
spaced (\setupinterlinespace[line=2\bodyfontsize]) and I was trying to get
the float captions singly spaced. Have stuffed commands
like '\setupinterlinespace[small]' (which I believe is the ConTeXt default)
pretty much anywhere I can think of
into '\setupcaptions[style=smallbodyfont,width=\textwidth]', but can't
figure it out. Was hoping you could toss me another bone ...

Oh, could you please try to verify my 'lang'/'language' tag issue as well:
just edit BibProb.bib and switch 'lang = en' to 'language = en' and see
what happens. Does that work for you?
Forget about this: after the upgrade to the most recent ConTeXt this problem
is a thing of the past.

Great! No more errors! But with this solution the caption disappears ...
strange. Also: breaking the table across pages doesn't work
despite 'split=repeat, splitmethod=a' - do I have to call a split explicitly
somewhere?

Re: [NTG-context] XML and chapter specific bibliographies

2006-04-10 Thread Johannes Graumann

 \placepublications[criterium=local] should work.
Still struggling with this.

\usemodule[bib]
\setupbibtex[database={../Bibliography/bibliography.bib,../Bibliography/verma04.bib}]
\setuppublications[sorttype=bbl]
\defineXMLenvironment
  [chapter]
  {
\defineXMLargument
  [title]
  {\chapter}
\defineXMLenvironment
  [content]
  {}{}
  }
  {\setupindenting[none]\section{References}\placepublications}

leads to the first chapter carrying the references of ALL chapters in it's
bibliography section.
Adding '\placepublications[criterium=local]' results in total lack of
reference listings - no bibliography ANYWHERE.

Any idea how I may go about fixing this?
