Zeus Gómez Marmolejo wrote: I've done some tests with rlxtools and I've found that the conversion from SVG to PDF is done really bad now. It passes through PS (with the inkscape command line) and then the ghostscript is executed to produce the PDF. But I've found a better way to do it. before i look into this ... what version of inkscape? when i wrote the code ps was the only way that could be trusted (successive version of inkscape were broken etc) I've modified the file graphics/inkscape (it's a ruby source code). At line 69 was: resultpipe = --without-gui --print=\#{tmpfilename}\ 2#{logfile} and now: resultpipe = --without-gui --export-pdf=\#{outfilename}\ 2#{logfile} After this, all these lines can be commented out: # ghostscript = GhostScript.new(@logger) #ghostscript.setvariable('inputfile',tmpfilename) #ghostscript.setvariable('outputfile',outfilename) #report(converting #{tmpfilename} to #{outfilename}) # ghostscript.convert #begin #File.delete(tmpfilename) #rescue #end The difference is that inkscape can export directly to pdf and the conversion is done much better, with transparencies and all the stuff. Also, I noticed that at first it didn't work for me because at line 44 (logfile=System.null), I don't know why but this strings is /dev/null/ in my system and when executing the command a message was echoed: sh: /dev/null/ is a directory and nothing was produced. Now I've modified the caller to pass explictly /dev/null as logfile (in pstopdf.rb source, line 401) and now all is working perfectly. I hope you can solve these little bugs. Regards, Zeus. This reminds me, that there are still three identical huge files in my bin directory. Aside from the waste of space such stupid errors can occur. Is this problem solved in the meantime? Akira Kakuto distributes luatex.dll in his W32TeX distribution, and links all three binaries to them. Re: [NTG-context] showfont with xetex (syntax changed?)
2007/12/6, Mojca Miklavec [EMAIL PROTECTED]: On 12/6/07, Steffen Wolfrum wrote: Hi, when in february 2006 I asked for an alternative to fontspec that could show me opentype features, Adam wrote: I find that the lcdf typetools are a tremendous help: otfinfo -f ~/Library/Fonts/WarnockPro-Regular.otf and I can test the features with: \showfont[Warnock Pro: +smcp] Today this showfont-line doesn't work anymore: \definetypeface[oneliner][rm][Xserif][Warnock Pro][default] \starttext \oneliner Test WQG 0196 \showfont[Warnock Pro: +smcp] \stoptext Someone knows what to do? (I wasn't aware of such usage ...) In this specific case you could use \showfont[SerifCaps] (if your ConTeXt version is newer than 2007.10.29) The general approach would be something like: \definefontfeature[mine][smcp=yes] \definefontsynonym[a][name:Warnock Pro][features=mine] \showfont[a] (grep the sources for definefontfeature) One question for Hans: would it be possible (make sense) to make this work? \showfont[name:Iwona][features=mine] I want such a feature for \setupbodyfont, e.g. \setupbodyfont[myfont] use the fonfeatures define in the typescript \setupbodyfont[myfont][features=oldstyle] choose oldstyle figures instead of the default setting in the typescript, this requires at the moment always a second typescript with oldstyle numerals. It would also nice to map \sc to \setfontfeature{smallcaps} because ConTeXts smallcaps fontsynonym works only for roman typeface and \os should use the oldstyle fontfeature, it use currently a math font except I use \variant or define a alternative typescript. Perhaps there should be some kind of raw prefix introduced (again): \definefontsynonym[a][raw:Warnock Pro:mapping=tex-text;+smcp] But generally, LuaTeX is much more suitable for such previews (only that there might be no newshowfont available yet - writing one is doable if you know what you're interested in). My two cents: ConTeXt currenty uses smcp=yes,script=latn,onum=yes,liga=yes... while fontspec uses either Letters=SmallCaps Script=Latin Numbers=OldStyle Ligatures=Common or the same raw names as above. I would prefer the human-readable names as in fontspec, but ... well, the font calling mechanisms really need to improve in my opinion. What fontspec achieves in one line like (copying from XeTeX list): \setmainfont[Script=Devanagari]{Sanskrit 2003} needs dozens of lines in ConTeXt (definefontfeature, define typescripts in two steps, ... b) So in case that some more features in XeTeX/LuaTeX change, do not be surprised too much ... And even worse both engines have their own default values for fonts. When I started reading mkii code, I understood the steps that were being followed, but the fine details were pretty hard to understand. With luatex, the broad steps are still in tex, so that part is the same, but the fine implementation (that needed a real programming language) are in lua. This makes it much easier to understand. I could read the new mkiv pretty printing code and see what it was doing. With the mkii pretty printing code, I spent about a week and was still clueless (rather, I understood bits and pieces, but there was no way I could extend it to another language). Go to http://foundry.supelec.fr/frs/?group_id=14, parse for the particular date and download the appropriate files, or 2. Try all files tmf, exa, win|ppc|?? one by one, and download the ones that are available, and then unzip the files and remake the formats. This would make going back to an old version really easy. [NTG-context] booklet set up
Hello, I'm creating a textbook as a booklet (two A5 per A4), and have difficulties. 1) If I use imposition command \setuparranging, then Luatex doesn't process references. I know, there are workarounds, but I prefer to create A5 pages and then impose them using nice Acrobat plugin. However, I don't know how to make Luatex to process left and right pages differently (for future imposing). If I set left margin, then it is really left through the document, but I need it to be on the right every second page, and vice versa. How to achieve it? (I tried 'mirrored' option in \setuppapersize, and got funny result) ;) 2) I was always scared by explanation of \showlayout on texshow: Horizontal: (if singleside then outside is at right and inside is at left) === width = width of text area middle: automatic calculation consider A) params fit: automatic calculation consider A)+B) params dimension: cutspace should be 0 and is calculated according to backspace A) params: (\paperwidth=\backspace+\makeupwidth+\cutspace) backspace = width of inner margin cutspace = width of outer margin (if 0 then = backspace!) ... and so on. It looks like a program, not manual, and I never understood it, despite it explains very important concept, missed on Wiki -- 'fit' and 'middle' options. Can someone throw a light on these?
