Hello,

I have this in my .emacs file:

I'm quite happy with aspell.

[NTG-context] type problems

2009-08-06 Thread Wolfgang Werners-Lucchini
Hallo,

I have always problems with verbatim text. Sometimes I found a
solution, sometimes a workaround. Are there solutions to

- print text with a verbatim '%' sign
- print text with a verbatim '{'

why is in the following example '#' -- '##'?
why is there a newline between 'bla' and 'blub'?

\starttext
%\type{%}
%\type{{}
\retype{#}
\startlines
\retype{bla}blub
\stoplines
\stoptext

Thank you

Has to do with the way how \retype works, a solution for the # problem
was posted not so long ago on comp.text.tex (or on a tex mailing list).

[NTG-context] metaobj and luatex 0.42.0

2009-08-06 Thread Matthew Claus
Hello everyone,

First, thanks for making this list such a great resource.

I've installed a fresh minimals on windows using first-setup.bat. This
seems to have installed luatex 0.40.6 which led to errors making the
formats (message indicated at least 0.42 was needed). I think the
presence of the older luatex version for windows was recently noted on
another thread.

So, I installed 0.42.0 and remade the formats.

This minimal example works with texexec example.tex but fails with context
example.tex.

\startMPinclusions
input metaobj;
\stopMPinclusions

\starttext
\startMPpage
newBox.a(\sometxt{hello world});
a.c = origin;
drawObj(a);

\stopMPpage
\stoptext

Is this expected to work (I realize the 0.42.0 is very new)

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks very much for any assistance,
Matt

I am not surprised it fails. Most metapost code in mkiv is run at
least twice for some reason, and so equations tend to fail. You could
try with

  \startMPpage
  newBox.a(\sometxt{hello world});
  a.c := origin;
  drawObj(a);
  \stopMPpage

but even then it depends on what newBox does internally.

in general one needs to keep in mind that we're in one run, so even in
the case of 'single runs' things can bleed from one to the other
graphic; one should set up graphics as independent as possible

Re: [NTG-context] texworks with context on linux

2009-08-06 Thread Hans Hagen

Alex Lubberts wrote:

Hi,

Yesterday I wanted to try out texworks for editing and typesetting my
context documents. I installed texworks from the ubuntu launchpad ppa
since '--goodies=texworks' doesn't work on linux-64, yet.

Then I ran into a few problems:

* The script mtx-texworks.lua wasn't able to start texworks because
unable to locate texworks. In the loop that's searching all the
binpaths I put in 'logs.simple(%s,p)' and found out that binpaths
only consists of one element: the complete PATH variable. I guess it
means that there's something wrong with the function file.split_path,
but I don't understand what's happening there. When I replaced the
loop with 'p=/usr/bin/texworks' texworks started as expected.

hm, strange, but just patching the file.split_path function is kin dof
dangerous .. mayb the path separator is not identified well

* However the typesetting engines were not correctly set up. Texworks
(at least on linux) seems to be looking for a file TeXworks.ini. The
one in the minimals distribution is called texworks.ini. Renaming this
solved it...

has to do with the fact that these are user prefs and stored in a system
dependent way (only windows can be configured); this will chang ein
future versions of texworks

* ... almost. In the TeXworks.ini file I also had to replace all
occurunces of 'mtxrun.cmd' (doesn't work on linux, is this correct for
Windows?) with 'mtxrun'.

needs testing

I wish I could help solve these points, but since I'm not much of a
programmer I cannot solve the first issue, and the other are just a
matter of renaming/replacing??

Wolfgang Schuster wrote:

Hi Hans,

what happened with the option to set font features with more memorizable
names

you mentioned in http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2007/028330.html

It would be nice to write \definefontfeature[mine][smallcaps=yes] instead
of \definefontfeature[mine][smcp=yes] where you have to know the four
letter

code for the feature.

as mapping is already kin dof present, if you add

for k, v in pairs(to_features) do
to_features[gsub(k, ,)] = v
k = lower(k)
to_features[k] = v
to_features[gsub(k, ,)] = v
end

to font-ott.lua then you can say:

\starttext

% \definefontfeature[smallcaps][smcp=yes,script=latn]
% \definefontfeature[smallcaps][SmallCapitals=yes,script=latn]
% \definefontfeature[smallcaps][Small Capitals=yes,script=latn]
% \definefontfeature[smallcaps][small capitals=yes,script=latn]
\definefontfeature[smallcaps][smallcapitals=yes,script=latn]

\definedfont[cambria*smallcaps] test

\stoptext

of course you need to memorize the huge feature name table

if needed we can add some extra common entries, like smallcaps and
oldstyle but someone needs to collect them
