Peter Münster is right: after luatools --generate context stops asking for a non-existent type-loc.tex. I hope the next beta will remove the need to call luatools --generate each time one feels it necessary to remove type-loc.tex. it depends ... if the font is in tex default encoding then it's only a
matter of adding a small table

says that the fonts are _fully_ T1 encoded.

with the right names for fourier? I tried this, but no math fonts is
showing up in the pdf file. In what other file should I add changes.

Quite possible. Lucida doesn't provide all the ec glyphs anyway (č is
not present), but the virtual font on CTAN apparently fakes it
successfully by placing caron over c and taking two glyphs
(successfully only in technical meaning, so that it works in the first
place; typographically it's obvious that the one who did the virtual
font has never used that glyph).

The metrics are there already, it's only that their naming scheme is

Do you mean some other math fonts? The package on CTAN has the
following tfm files (and maybe some extra ones in vf that I didn't
manage to check completely yet):

so, at that point i simply gave up on lucida (i had my own texnansi-* +
original math tfm files) as changing context would break existing lucida
usage
interesting is that the lucida metrics (afaik) are not shipped with tex live
so we cannot create a robust solution unless we ship with the minimale:
What does robust mean? One needs to buy the font anyway, so it won't
work out of the box, but it would be nice if it worked out of the box
with the files that TUG does ship. Metrics in TeX live don't really
help without pfb files and if one installs pfb files, one may easily
copy everything else along. Of course we can add the metrics to
minimals (optional install), but I would prefer them to match the ones
from TUG (currently they are also available on CTAN).
for mkiv (luatex):
- afm files (for mkiv)
- map file (can be small one)
- only some 8 math tfm files for mkiv
for mkii:
- map file
- tfm files (dunno which ones)
- vf files (dunno which ones)

it depends ... if the font is in tex default encoding then it's only a
matter of adding a small table
I'm not 100% sure how it works wth font encodings, but the fourier doc
(http://mirror.ctan.org/fonts/fourier-GUT/doc/latex/fourier/fourier-doc-en.pdf)
says that the fonts are _fully_ T1 encoded.

I have now manually downloaded the mathdesign fonts (and the charter
fonts, not available on the server it seems)
The fonts gets used, but I get upright math letters instead of italic
ones. My test file is given by

Might be related, but solving one won't solve the other one.
3) What is needed to get fourier fonts working? Is it enough adding to
math-vfu.lua an entry like

with the right names for fourier?
If the font comes with some weird encoding, then you also need to
write the whole slot-to-unicode mapping.

But I realized that there's another problem anyway. At least for MKII ConTeXt wants to use ec-bchr8a.tfm and that file is not present in the package. There's alyaws times roman something, where something corresponds to - I = 1 - X = 10 - C = 100 - M = 1000 So the times only tells you how many zeros to add to result. If I replace \footnote{} with parantheses, the included source compiles fine.
I've had a separate issue where a URL containing %'s seems to gum up
the system (that is, when I pared down the source to isolate the above
peculiarity I removed the URLs with %s and the other error, which
would stop compilation itself if the parantheses had solved the above
issue, disappeared.) Is pandoc producing the proper, or preferred,
\useURL syntax? I'm assuming pandoc aims for mkII over mkIV, but I
thought I read that the interface had not changed.

Vyatcheslav When you load a module with \usemodule[modulename] ConTeXt looks for a file with the following names: - m-modulaname (core module) - p-modulename (private module) - s-modulename (ConTeXt style file) - x-modulename (XML module) - t-modulename (Third party module) - modulename Once a file is found ConTeXt stops the search and loads the found file (only once).
