Re: [NTG-context] setupformulas options (or defineformula) and effort to reduce the font in math formulas

2015-03-12 Thread Jaroslav Hajtmar

Hello Wolfgang.

After some searching and experimenting, here is my functional solution.
I wrote it into the wiki. I have not found there eg. defineformula
command etc

Jaroslav Hajtmar

\defineformula[MY][
align=left,
strut=no,
 spacebefore=,
 spaceafter=,
]

% so you can modify the settings of defineforumla[MY]
\setupformulae[MY][align=right,strut=yes,spacebefore=medium,spaceafter=big]

% so we can create new start-stopsmallformula
\definestartstop[smallformula]
  [before={\startformula[small]},
   after=\stopformula,
]

% and we can so create new start-stopmysmallformula:
\definestartstop[mysmallformula]
  [before={\startMYformula[small]},
   after=\stopMYformula,
]

% and here is my shortcuts:
\let\bmyformula\startmysmallformula
\let\emyformula\stopmysmallformula

Thanx Wolfgang for reply.
I had no idea that it is possible in this way to change the font size.
I could not figure a way for your solution set alignment formulas to
right and how work \defineformula and \definestartstop together.

After defining a new MY formula in combination with your solution
works it fine, as I had imagined.
Is there any possibility of setting of parameters a newly defined
formulas? Or, it can not be done, and everything must be solved within
the initial definition?

One more thanx

[NTG-context] Unicode question

Hi all,
If I run this minimal example

\starttext

I get

tex errorerror on line 3 in file /data/tmp/u1.tex: ! String
contains an invalid utf-8 sequence

and some more lines.

The character above is:

  Character:
   Character name: REPLACEMENT CHARACTER
Charblock: Specials
 Category: Other symbol
  Unicode: U+fffd
 UTF8: 0xefbfbd

which is a valid utf8 character.

Questions:

1. Why is it considered to be invalid?

2. Are there other valid utf8 characters which are considered invalid?

Just wanting to understand.

[NTG-context] How to properly put information into contextwiki

2015-03-12 Thread Jaroslav Hajtmar

Hello list.

I tried in vain to find some information on how to properly load some
things into http://wiki.contextgarden.net/
I tried to insert there thing I have not found there
(http://wiki.contextgarden.net/defineformula) but I could not find how
to classify this page to a hierarchy (in this case into the section
commands). They are somewhere about some information? Or has the final
classification in charge of an administrator, etc? Thanks for the link
to some information. I would like to wiki occasionally contributed
something, but I've somehow fundamentally not orienting.

Thanks Jaroslav Hajtmar

 Questions:

 1. Why is it considered to be invalid?

This is not a context question/problem but related to the binary
(you would get the same error with lualatex or plain)

The luatex code contains the lines (in unistring.w)

if (val == 0xFFFD)
utf_error();
return (val);

in a function str2uni. I didn't really try to understand the code
but it looks as if 0xFFFD is used as invalid marker: If luatex
encounters something that isn't valid utf8 it maps val to 0xFFFD and
then test against 0xFFFD to rise an error.

 2. Are there other valid utf8 characters which are considered invalid?

The comment in the code says

/* the 5- and 6-byte UTF-8 sequences generate integers

that are outside of the valid UCS range, and therefore

unsupported
 */

it's an attempt to recover but in the process a normal 0xFFFD triggers

Re: [NTG-context] component not included

2015-03-12 Thread Norbert Melzer
According toll my observations, you need to reference the needed parts
inside of the \start... and \stop..., so your product would become:

```
\startproduct pd-medizin
\project pj-medizin
\component test
\stopproduct
```

You also have to restructure the other files, so that \start... is the
first and \stop... the last command in the files.

the question is not what to do when an invalid character comes in, in
that case luatex can replace it by 0xFFFD and issue a error as now,

but when the input hasn't an 0xFFFD then luatex should just carry on as
0xFFFD is a *valid* character

it is quite easy for a macro package to trigger an error as

  \catcodeFFFD=15

will do thatm but it's impossible for a macro package to intercept the
weird interception by luatex's input handler

you cannot force a user to use \batchmode and -1 would abort a wrapper
thereby leading to an invalid document; it means that luatex can never
typeset a document where char 0xFFFD is being typeset and luatex should
not be normative

not accepting 0xFFFD in the input is a bug

at the end of each chapter, thus effectively before each \stopchapter
BUT only if there are footnotes to be placed, i.e. I do not want to
have empty Footnotes subjects appearing in my document.

Supplementary question, just for fun:
how to specify title=Footnote if there is only one?

Don’t load the product file, only the environment.

\environment env-medizin
\startcomponent test
test
\stopcomponent

Re: [NTG-context] \placefootnotes at the end of each chapter, conditionally

 That is:

 beta)
 etc.

 Thanks very much.

 This works here:

 \setupbodyfont[pagella]

 \starttext
 \startitemize[g][,stopper=,right=)]
 \item Hellow
 \item Hi
 \item Good bye
 \stopitemize
 \stoptext

 I think you have to use a font that has the lower case greek letters
 available.

For Latin Modern you can use the mathgreek conversion which uses the math font.

\starttext
\startitemize[mathgreek][,stopper=,right=)]
\item Hellow
\item Hi
\item Good bye
\stopitemize
\stoptext

[NTG-context] setup for paragraph styles

2015-03-12 Thread mf
Hello,
I'd like to kwnow the commands I should use in ConTeXt to define styles
for paragraphs of text that are not headers/titles nor normal text.
With titles I know I must use:
\definehead[MyTitle][title]
\setuphead[MyTitle][...]

What should I use for texts like subtitles, dates of letters,
signatures? They are paragraphs often made by a few words, with a
different alignment, margins, style and vertical space above and below.
For a long quote I've seen that I can use:
\definedelimitedtext[MySpecialText]
\setupdelimitedtext[MySpecialText]

Are those the right commands for my purpose in ConTeXt?

In particular, I'm typesetting XHTML, where all those elements are p
class=subtitle, p class=letter-date, p class=signature and so
on.
An example taken from my xml environment:

...
\startxmlsetups xml:myenv
  \xmlsetsetup{\xmldocument}{*}{-}
  \xmlsetsetup{\xmldocument}{html|body|h3|p|i}{xml:*}
  ...
  \xmlsetsetup{\xmldocument}{p[@class='letter-date']}{xml:p:letter-date}
  ...
\stopxmlsetups
...
\startxmlsetups xml:p:letter-date
  \page[no]\rightaligned{\noindent\xmlflush{#1}}\par\page[no]
\stopxmlsetups
...

Is that the right way or is it better to define and setup a style like
this?
\define_???_[LetterDate]
\setup_???_[LetterDate][
  before=...,
  after=...,
  ...,
]

and use it like this:
\startxmlsetups xml:p:letter-date
  \startLetterDate \xmlflush{#1} \stopLetterDate
\stopxmlsetups

And if it's better like that, what should I write instead of _???_ ?

Thanks,
Massi

[NTG-context] Sourcemirror at gitorious is closing down, where to find it then?

2015-03-12 Thread Norbert Melzer
Since gitorious got acquired by gitlab it will shut down its service end of
May 2015 (https://about.gitlab.com/2015/03/03/gitlab-acquires-gitorious/).

Where will ConTeXts source mirror be hosted then?

Will it get transfered over to gitlab? Github? Bitbucket? Sourceforge?
Somewhere else?
