I’m trying to define a symbolset:

\definefontsynonym [Webdings] [file:Webdings.ttf]
\def\WebdingsSymbol#1{\getglyphstyled{Webdings}{\tochar{x:#1}}}

\startsymbolset[webdings]
\definesymbol [spider] [\WebdingsSymbol{f021}]
\definesymbol [spiderweb] [\WebdingsSymbol{f022}]
\definesymbol [sunglasses] [\WebdingsSymbol{f024}]
\definesymbol [award] [\WebdingsSymbol{f026}]
\definesymbol [ribbon] [\WebdingsSymbol{f02d}]
\definesymbol [plane] [\WebdingsSymbol{f0f1}]
% …
\stopsymbolset

\usesymbols[webdings]
\showsymbolset[webdings]
\symbol[webdings][spider]

The font is included in my pdf, \showsymbolset[webdings] lists the
names, but the symbols never show up.

I also tried other fonts.
What’s wrong?
You can get the right number for each symbol from webdings.tma (look at
the end of the file).

\definefontsynonym [Webdings] [file:Webdings.ttf]

\def\WebdingsSymbol#1{\getglyphstyled{Webdings}{\tochar{d:#1}}}

\startsymbolset[webdings]
\definesymbol [spider] [\WebdingsSymbol{983044}]
\definesymbol [web][\WebdingsSymbol{983045}]
\definesymbol [cool]   [\WebdingsSymbol{983047}]
\stopsymbolset

\starttext
\symbol[webdings][spider]
\symbol[webdings][web]
\symbol[webdings][cool]
\stoptext

Good idea. Feel free to add content to the wiki. I recently extended the
Textadept  article. I think the
ConTeXt devs created a good start there, as well as I think that they have
enough to do with ConTeXt alone. ;)

Thank you!
But does that mean that MkIV can’t access glyphs by number at all?

I recently had the same problem.
I installwd fontforge and opened the fobtfile. There you can see the names of
the glyphs.

After that i succeded with following code.

\definefontsynonym [WebDing] [file:webdings.ttf]
\def\WebDingSymbol{\getnamedglyphdirect{WebDing}}
\startsymbolset [webding]
\definesymbol[surf][\WebDingSymbol{surf}]
\definesymbol[motorcycle][\WebDingSymbol{motorcycle}]
\definesymbol[mountain][\WebDingSymbol{mountain}]
\definesymbol[art][\WebDingSymbol{art}]
\definesymbol[occasion][\WebDingSymbol{occasion}]
\stopsymbolset
\starttext
\tfc
\symbol[webding][surf]
\symbol[webding][motorcycle]
\symbol[webding][mountain]
\symbol[webding][art]
\symbol[webding][occasion]
\stoptext

I should write a symb-imp-win.mkv

look into lang-def.mkiv for what more is needed (and in lang-txt.lua)

I’ve tried both \language[is] / \language[icelandic] and \mainlanguage[is] but
the result is identical to English. Other languages (fr, ru, de) work as

broken, i.e. it ignores the style assigned by \setuplinenumbering (but
works OK on other pages)?

It’s a side effect of the way how line numbering works. To get the
correct style for the last page you need global setups.

 begin example
\setuplinenumbering
   [TEX]
   [location=inmargin,
style=\tt\tfx,
color=darkgreen]

\setuptyping
   [TEX]
   [numbering=line]

Does 'numbering=line' here mean that the \setuptyping[TEX] will search for a
line-numbering style of the same name, i.e. \setuplinenumbering[TEX]?

And if it finds such numbering style, it will use it?

Best regards,

Lukas

[NTG-context] notes in the margin

2017-03-30 Thread Henning Hraban Ramm
While I’m still waiting for answers to my other questions, I got some more:

In my layout, left margin width is zero, but \inmargin always uses left margin.
I didn’t find a setup to change that – should \setupmargindata[location=right]
do the trick? (it doesn’t, also not with left)

Further I’d like to place "foot"notes into the margin.
It works like this:

\setupnote[footnote][location=none]
\setupnotation[footnote][
align=flushleft,
location=serried,
width=broad,
]
\setuptexttexts[margin][]
[{\framed[%
align=right,
frame=off,
height=\textheight,
width=\rightmarginwidth
]{\placenotes[footnote]}}]

But I’d like the notes to start in the line of the marker, if there’s space.
How can I achieve that?
