[NTG-context] about LuaTools | error unable to identify cnf file
Dear Mojca, texmfstart texexec --make (--xtx) --all run smoothly, but luatools still has a cnf error. Did you update the scripts in binaries as well? (Unless you updated ConTeXt from TL repository, it will keep the old mtxrun in binaries, and that one doesn't work at all.) Mojca I upgraded MacTeX using tlmgr updarw --all first. And then, texhash texmfstart texexec --make --all texmfstart texexec --make --xtx --all It's working good. Dear Diego, Yes, in ConTeXt Minimals, LuaTeX is working well. Now, I am testing LuaTeX in TL2008. I hope that LuaTeX works in both environments. Too greedy? However, I couldn't solve cnf problem yet. Re: [NTG-context] questions on ctxtools and line break.
Dear Mojca, Yue, and Hans, Thank you for the help. I updated ConTeXt and LuaTeX using rsync to the foler .../texlive/ 2008/../texmf-local. texmfstart texexec --make (--xtx) --all run smoothly, but luatools still has a cnf error. I'll do it again from the beginning when I have time. However, it works fine in ConTeXt-minimal. One day Mr. Wolfgang tried to do some work to set up standardization of CJK for MKIV. However, it is not easy because Korean use space between words. The rules of line break for Korean is simple in saying. We don't need any hyphenation inside word, so if it is longer than the \textwidth, just make a line break at that position. There may be a little adjustment to make it right flush. For the details of the line breaking system for Korean, I'll talked to the people in KTUG. Some experts in KTUG will answer how to do that. For ConTeXt, there is a font-kor.tex(by nomos) file which enable to use Korean in ConTeXt. So they know what and how to do. I hope that we find a good solution which is also good for the implementation in MKIV. Thank you again. What is the best way to update ConTeXt in TL2008? 2. about line break for sentences in Korean. When I compile Korean text using XeTeX + ConTeXt or LuaTeX, there are many overfull errors because of the linebreaking. Dear all, I hope that you understand a little bit off topic question. Recently, I installed smultron and set it up to use ConTeXt Minimals following the instruction in ConTeXt wiki. I am sorry that there is a mistake in the previous mail that I sent. On Dec 11, 2007, at 9:51 AM, Jeong Dalyoung wrote: methods give me more choices. Re: [NTG-context] how to change 'figure 1.1' to '?? 1.1'
Dear Mojca and Wolfgang, Thank you for the comments on lang-kor.tex. I didn't test, but I would say: forget the dirty hacks and simply write \setuplabeltext [\s!ko] [\v!figure=??] It might not work in pdfTeX, but for XeTeX and LuaTeX it should do the job. Once you do those changes, feel free to ask again if you have problems (and don't forget to ask Hans to include the translations). I modify the files following your advice. It removes the middle variable \koencoding and make the file simpler. And I don't need to use \koencoding{\enableencoding[cjk- uni]}. It worked fine, also. But I'd like to use \setuphead for chapter, section, etc because our writing style of head is different from that of english. I uploaded it in KTUG board to be checked by them, since it may be need more corrections. Thank you again. By the way, do you completely resolve the lmtypewriter10-regular problem? which was discussed before in the list? Yesterday, after I reinstalled TeXlive and updated ConTeXt, I got kpathsea: Running mktextfm lmtypewriter10-regular message. As a temporary method, I renamed mktextfm. I confirmed that such font file is in texlive opentype font folder and lm*.map files in map/dvipdfm folder. Is there anything that I have to do more? I couldn't see the solution in the list. Re: [NTG-context] Typesetting Korean
Dear Saji, You contact the right person, Dohyun Kim. He is one of the expert in KTUG and who write kor-00 module for ConTeXt. Another way for Korean is to use XeTeX+ ConTeXt, then you can use some korean fonts in the system. I think that using the module kor-00 is easier. If there are someone who want to use korean go www.ktug.or.kr and download the font files and module. Just untar the files in the texmf- local directory. It is easy to use. Thank you. Dear Mojca, Thank you for the reply. As you did, I send my problem to the list. I think that I am a problem maker. I wonder why the output of XeTeX+ConTeXt was changed after the upgrade to Leopard. I didn't change anything in TeX system. I just upgraded the OSX. But nicely working XeTeX+ConTeXt had a problem with the korean commercial fonts.(no korean letters were appeared.) I installed TeXlive using i-installer(gwTeX) with Mac OSX Leopard, Latest stable ConTeXt, XeTeX 0.996 I made a short test file and a typescript file for the test. I have tested in several ways. 1. [NTG-context] two questions
Hi all, Recently, I had a problem using XeTeX+ConTeXt after the upgrade to Leopard. You may read my mails to the list already. Let me describe it in short. XeTeX and XeLaTeX worked well. But in the output via XeTeX+ConTeXt, all korean letters are shown as blank or as the series of squares([s6] mode)when I set mainfont using some of the commercial fonts. All the files were worked OK before the upgrade. I'd like to you two things. 1. Is it possible to use xdv2pdf to produce pdf file using the command texmfstart texexec? 2. How to update xetex and xdvipdfmx? I downloaded latest file of them from minimal.context.wiki. I replaced the xetex and xdvipdfmx in the folder /usr/texbin/ with the latest files, but it made another lm font error. I am using Mac with OSX Leopard, TeXlive 2007(gwTeX). Dear Thomas, Mojca, and Otared, Thank you for the instructions. I think that I followed the instructions of installation without problems. But I have a problem running luatools. At this time, even luatools -- generate didn't run correctly. It is ooking for the wrong folder. [NTG-context] need help for the installation of luatools
Hi, all, I have downloaded binary files(lua5_1_2_Darwin89_bin_tar). After unzip, there are 3 files bin2c5.1, lua5.1, luac5.1. I copied lua5.1 as luatex and texlua in the folder /usr/texbin. I also copied luatools.lua as luatools in the folder /usr/texbin. I updated the ConTeXt and try to install LuaTeX. But, I got an error as following when I issue luatools. apple: dalyoung$ luatools texlua: /usr/texbin/luatools:4183: attempt to index global 'lua' (a nil value) stack traceback: /usr/texbin/luatools:4183: in main chunk [C]: ? [NTG-context] math font definitions in XeConTeXt
Dear all, For korean sentences, I am using XeConTeXt with korean otf font as the bodyfont. In that case, greek capital letters in math mode are not displayed wit the warning message ** WARNING ** Glyph for CID 18168 missing in font YoonMyungjoM/H. YoonMyungjoM is the name of the korean font. If I set english font as the bodyfont, they are displayed well. I think that korean font override the greek capital letters. Hence, I'd like to know the followings: (1) Is there a math font which can be used in XeConTeXt? (2) Is there a way to not to override greek capital letters in math mode? Thank you. Re: [NTG-context] lm update+ gyre and ctxtools doesn't work
Dear Taco, I have installed following map files in the folder /usr/local/gwTeX/ texmf.texlive/fonts/map/pdftex/context/ The map files are {cs-lm.map, ec-lm.map, el-lm.map, ..., texansi-lm.map, ts1-lm.map} which is included in the new version. I put those files only in the folder. Does it cause the problem? Thank you. Best regards, Dalyoung ___ ntg-context mailing list ntg-context@ntg.nl http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context
[NTG-context] \hairline in the header and column rule
Dear all, I'd like to ask about drawing a line in the header and a line between columns. 1)I'd like to add hairlines in the header using before and after in \setupheader, but the lines was drawn from the leftend of the leftmargin with the textwidth only. So, there is no line at the right end of the header. How to make the lines start from the left end of the text area? 2) I setup [rule=on] in column setup, but the length of the line depends on the length of the text. How to draw the separation line from the top to bottom? Thank you for reading. [NTG-context] ConTeXt installation problem using i-installer(v 2.85)
Dear all, Yesterday, I updated ConTeXt using i-installer(V 2.84). It worked fine with XeTeX too. I am able to make presentation using ConTeXt + XeTeX which was not possible before. Today I tried to update ConTeXt in Mac located in school. At this time, I used the upgraded i-installer(V 2.85). But it didn't ask me the permission(no Authenticate window). So it couldn't have a write permission in the directory /usr/local/teTeX/. I got the warning/ error message, /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local is not writablle. I cannot change a nonwritable TeX. Bailing out Hence I couldn't install ConTeXt. What do I have to do to complete the installation? Thank you. [NTG-context] resolved Font problem
Dear all, By installing TeX from the beginning and changing to new font family, CFF: Invalid caracter error was disappeared. I think that there are some problems in some korean fonts But the same file had a little problem in Powerbook G4(OS X 10.4.7). I think that it is not the problem in XeTeX, ConTeXt, but in the configuration in Terminal or in the system. Although I have little knowledge about Unix, I'll try to fix it. Thank you again for all the help. Best regards, Dalyoung ___ ntg-context mailing list ntg-context@ntg.nl http://www.ntg.nl/mailman/listinfo/ntg-context
[NTG-context] help for the font problem
Hi, all I have no problem to get an pdf output using XeTeX and XeLaTeX but, I got some errors using XeTeX+ XonTeXt. After many tests, I think that the error is related with the font (including Korean) which I installed privately. If I use the fonts installed by system, then everything is OK. The followings are the errors and error message I got. 1) There is a white space instead of figures. No error messages but no figures. However, if I changed the font, I got the pdf output directly containing figures. 2) font error message: xetext.xdv - xetext.pdf [1 ** NOTICE: This document contains a `Preview Print only' licensed font ** ] ** ERROR ** CFF: Invalid character. Output file removed. TeXExec | runtime: 5.386493 ~ However, I could get an pdf texts using xdv2pdf but still no figures. If I changed the font, then I got the pdf output without xdv2pdf. Hence, all the errors are originated from the font. I wonder whether it is the problem in my system only or not. Would someone try the following file using the given font(free to use)? And if you also get the same errors, then is there a You can download fonts freely from the following address: http://www.softmagic.com/HomePage/ko/03_down/download.jsp#04 In the middle of that page, you can see Open type Fonts for Mac OS X, click open type font 5 below the download service. It contains 5 fonts, and try one of them. Thank you for help. [NTG-context] gnuplot in ConTeXt
Dear all, I have installed gnuplot and others(aqua term, x11). I tested the minimal sample file in ConTeXt Wiki. In the wiki page, there is a command like \startGNUPLOTgraphics{sin} plot sin(x) \stopGNUPLOTgraphics but there is an error message like l.6 \startGNUPLOTgraphics {sin} ? x If I changed \startGNUPLOTgraphics{sin} to \startGNUPLOTgraphic{sin}, then the error is disappeared but the output showed only texts but not graph. Only a grey box is appeared. Would you please show me an example in detail? Thank you for reading. Re: [NTG-context] some patches
Dear Hans, Thank you for your answer. Since it worked perfectly before, I created XeTeX-ConTeXt format using texexec --make --xtx en for a test and run texexec --xtx file.tex. It run OK and I got a pdf output. I think that it is not only the font problem unless texmfstart uses fonts differently. So my wonder is what cause the difference between texmfstart texexec --xetex file.tex and texexec --xtx file.tex.(no output with errors and good output). I am sorry to list this which is the problem for me only. Since my TeX-knowledge is very short, I couldn't do anyting but testing. I'll upgrade to the latest version soon and see how it runs, although I am afraid of upgrading the current ConTeXt(05-11) to the latest one. Thank you again. [NTG-context] about the default bullets of itemized lists
Dear all, It is not a big problem, but I don't know why this curious thing happened. A few days ago, I updated ConTeXt and made a format file for XeConTeXt. I run a file which was compiled well before and got a strange results: at this time. all the bullets of the itemized lists are gone(no bullets). After I changed the first \startitemize to \startitemize[1] only, then all the itemized lists in the whole text had a bullet again. If I changed [1] to [2] and [3], it disappeared again(including bullets for \head). Is this normal? or are there something wrong in my setup or in my document? Thank you for reading.
