Re: [NTG-context] new upload / more math

Wrong. The imperial measurement system, may give Europeans a headache, but is
NOT obsolete, by any means. A good chunk of the world use the imperial
measurment system and may be required in certain books, depending on a
country's standards.

[NTG-context] Using a system font

Minimum working example:

\starttext
I want to use the Mathjax_Fraktur font, which the font-manager on Ubuntu
reports that it has.

{\switchtobodyfont[Mathjax_Fraktur] .. but, this text doesn't show up in

Re: [NTG-context] font problems

2021-11-26 Thread jdh via ntg-context

Hans,
thanks you for the solution to my font problem. I appreciate it.

I'm trying to understand the definefont command you used and it seems that the
arguments 'sa 1' in the macro is a size indication somewhat similar to 'at
10pt' but uses a relative size parameter as opposed to the absolute pt value.
That the numeric argument after 'sa' is a multiple of the current font size.

Thank you

[NTG-context] font problems

2021-11-26 Thread jdh via ntg-context

Here's my MWE:
Objective is to typeset a Chancery font text in the upper lefthand side
of a page, and
then do the main body in some normal font. Then at the very last print
a sign off in
Chancery. For some reason I can't get both to print out as Chancery.
Only one or the
   other, but not both.

\definefontfamily [mwetest] [sans] [Liberation Sans]
\setupbodyfont [mwe,ss,12pt]

\definelayer[mwe][repeat=yes, preset=lefttop, hoffset=.125in, voffset=.125in]
\setlayer[mwe] { \switchtobodyfont[chancery,8pt] \hskip 5mm Chancery Font
Here  }
\setupbackgrounds[page][background=mwe]

\starttext

Normal font text goes here. \blank[4*big]

 { \switchtobodyfont[chancery] This should be Chancery here to.  But isn't. }

\blank[2*big]Note that if I comment out the \type{setlayer[mwe]} in the source
file, then the above will print in Chancery.

\stoptext

I'd like to have the layers in Chancery font and then one last text string in
the body in Chancery font. But I can't get them both to be Chancery. How can
that be done?

Mojca,
sorry I missed you query about the location of the image zip.

I used:

https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspios_arm64/images/raspios_arm64-2020-05-28/2020-05-27-raspios-buster-arm64.zip

But the lite version you mention below should use the same library.

p.s. I'm away from the rpi now but will try out the new runtime prog you sent

[NTG-context] Third party modules in LMTX

2020-02-13 Thread jdh

I would like to use Wolfgang's t-letter module, but need some help.

I found the following instructions:

"The ConTeXt suite only comes with Taco's t-bib module. If you want to install
a new module, say Wolfgang's t-letter module, you can use

 first-setup.sh --modules="t-letter"

BUT, the LMTX standalone does not have any "first-setup.sh" shell script.

Is there another way to install the "t-letter" module for use with LMTX?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

[NTG-context] Works and Doesn't Work

2019-01-17 Thread jdh

Here is my small sample ConTeXt sample: I want to be able to control the blank
gap between the end of an item and the next item. It has to be fine tuned at
times. Any advice would be appreciated.

NOTE: Two cases with inbetween attempting use use two variations of the \blank
command which
causes 'context' run to hang. The comment escape on them has to be
removed to test them.

The rightmost column contains result comments.

Note that inbetween=\blank[.5mm] and \blank[small] cause context to hang .
But, underbar'd command with a text string works as advertised.

[NTG-context] How to adjust inter item vertical space

2019-01-16 Thread jdh

I want to fit a page with an itemized group of items.
The normal vertical spacing is to large and the [packed] doesn't give enough
seperation between
items. I should think that there's a simple way to adjust this with
\setupitemize command or even with \startitemize. Is there?

I did try \setupitemize[inbetween=\whitespace[medium]] , but it didn't do much
or seemed to be applied
to every line and not just between item and 'medium' doesn't give much
information. Is there some way to specify a measurement to seperate between
items such as .5cm for example?

Re: [NTG-context] xtables: rowwise, columnwise, and cellwise opera

2018-01-07 Thread jdh

You're right, the manual says what you pasted.
I agree that it is logical and makes sense, but the actual program does not
do it. My version is: "mtx-context

I was using: version: 2017.08.29 19:35
I updated to: version: 2018.01.05 19:26

Reality does not match the manual page you quated.
I recommend that you test before you send out manual pages which are not
accurate with the actual processing.

Re: [NTG-context] xtables: rowwise, columnwise, and cellwise opera

2018-01-06 Thread jdh

No it wont compile with two groups. It takes the second as content.
It may be a version difference. But it likewise would not work as is for me
with puting the key=value into the 1st bracket pair.

Version parsing difference?

Re: [NTG-context] Strange bug with overviewpage module.

2014-12-21 Thread jdh
I am using the standalone context ( $ mtxrun --version gives me ==
ConTeXt TDS Runner Tool 1.31 )

I want to try the overview module. I copied the example given on the
references html page, but context needs the module to parse it.

How do I install a module? ( This one specifically if different from
others in installation.)

Hi Aditya,

Now that you realize that your module works so well, I have two
questions :—)

How can one tweak your module so that in a presentation:
1) each overviewpage is included at the end;
2) each oveviewpage is clickabel and linked to the corresponding
page of the presentation.

If this is already implemented and if you have an example
presentation, could you please share it?

That was the original idea of the module. See:
http://randomdeterminism.wordpress.com/2014/01/01/announcing-the-overview-module/

I am thinking of adding the abilityto manually create overview pages
as well.

[NTG-context] Adjusting topspace for letterhead in layer construct

2014-11-19 Thread jdh

mtx-context | current version: 2014.10.18 14:30

I only want about 3 to 5 mm between the physical top of the page and the
top of the letterhead (in this example, a company's and contact
information).

In \setlayer I set y=3mm

The pdf view of the output looks good, but an actual printout (and a
look at a print preview with a pdf viewer) of the generated pdf file
puts the top of the letterhead about 17 mm down from the top edge. This
is too much. I tried adjusting topspace and topdistance to 0 didn't
seem to have any affect.

[NTG-context] layer letterhead and top down distance

2014-11-19 Thread jdh

I am using: mtx-context | current version: 2014.10.18 14:30

I am typesetting a simple letterhead for correspondence.

The design calls for only about a 3 to 5 mm distance between the
physical top of the page and the top of the typeset letterhead.

The pdf view of the output looks good, but an actual printout (and a
look at a print preview with a pdf viewer) of the generated pdf file
puts the top of the letterhead about 17 mm (14mm over target size) down
from the top edge. This is too much. I tried adjusting topspace and
topdistance to 0 didn't seem to have any affect.

 In \setlayer I set y=3mm
I tried adjusting topspace but it didn't do what I wanted and
topdistance was already 0.

How can that be done or does anyone have any pointers or tips on how I

I wanted to change character sizes in a letter head but the \tfa...

Here is a minimum example See how the letter head does not give larger
fonts as requested with the \tfc{} command. See the difference
with the table in the body of the letter.

[NTG-context] about layers

2014-11-01 Thread jdh
I am working on making a letter head which will have two separate main
components. 1.) A jpeg graphical component and a 2.) the companies
address (probably created with tabulate, but I don't know yet.

I wanted to ask what other people have done when using similar methods?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated..
