i tend to use --pattern, is that wrong?
$ mtxrun --script fonts --list --info --pattern=*minion*
MTXrun | fontname: minionprobold
MTXrun | fullname: MinionPro-Bold
MTXrun | filename: /media/sdb1/Fonts/Minion Pro/MinionPro-Bold.otf
MTXrun |

btw, the new output is much more intuitive.
