Re: [nysbirds-l] Greater White-fronted Goose- field on Pulaski Rd
Sorry for the false alarm, but the reported Greater White-fronted Goose from yesterday isn't actually what I said it was...oops! I was rushing to attend an appointment at the Huntington Medical Group(just down the road) and noticed a goose with a bright orange bill and legs. I pulled over and quickly snapped crappy shots from my camera phone through my scope, however, I didn't get a chance to thoroughly study the bird(like I normally would have liked to). In fact, the bird is a Graylag x Canada Goose hybrid- not special at all. The bird's identity was ascertained by photos sent to me. My apologies for this premature sightingand for the several of you that went to observe the bird. [nysbirds-l] Is the Captree Ground-Dove still there?
The last report I have is from November 28th. With the Captree Christmas Count looming near now (and for those that still haven't seen it) it would be great if we could confirm its continuing presence and, if so, get a feel for its new location(s). I would encourage everyone to take a look if you're birding the beach, and contact me or the list with any reports, positive or negative.
