[nysbirds-l] NYS eBird Hotspots: NY County Weather Icons

2018-03-08 Thread Ben Cacace
For all New York County shared locations (120 pages / 222 hotspots) I've
reviewed and tailored the links for both weather icons (see image link
below).

• Weather Underground site is more of graphical interface
• NOAA site is more text based with graphics including an hourly weather
forecast chart

I've included two options just in case one of the sites is temporarily
down. Having both a graphical and a text based option is helpful. I tend to
go for the NOAA details.

• There's a total of over two dozen weather stations used for the Weather
Underground site
• The NOAA current conditions and forecasts exist for blocks that are 1.5
miles on a side

New York County page:

Facebook link with images:

The wiki pages will be active at the current location until at least the
end of Sep. 2018. I'm hoping to find a new home for the pages before then.

[nysbirds-l] eBird.org: Recent Additions to County Checklists

2018-03-08 Thread Ben Cacace
When working on the NYS eBird Hotspots wiki I'll compare the previous bar
chart list of species with the current one picking up any additions or
deletions. By going to each county's 'Overview' page you can determine the
date the species was added by county. Some are from newly submitted
checklists from many months / years ago.

It isn't possible to spot these additions from old checklists. On the
'Overview' page you can sort on 'First Seen' but if the species wasn't
added recently it won't appear at the top of the list.

For each county on the NYS eBird Hotspots site click the 'Overview' link on
the 'Explore a Location' line:

Since last update: 6 days

No new additions at the county level.
