[nysbirds-l] King Eider still present Keibal Rd Whitney Point Reservoir late this afternoon 11/10/2020
All, The KING EIDER was farther up the shore on the Whitney Point Reservoir as seen from Keibal Rd this afternoon on a gloriously warm sunny day. The bird was farther offshore too and frequently diving. The exact location where I had the bird today was 42.352361°N and 75.980250°W. The bird was slowly working its way south again a little farther offshore. I also had a flyover COMMON REDPOLL my first in Broome Co in a few years. The bird unfortunately flew right toward the sun so I couldn't get a flight photo. I also heard a PINE SISKIN as well. I thought I heard evening grosbeaks too but they were so distant I am not 100% sure. It was pretty quiet for songbirds. I didn't even get an american goldfinch! But there was an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW that was calling and occasionally singing a little which was cool near the end of the road. Re:[nysbirds-l] Ash-throated Flycatcher Manhattan 11/9
Several observers looking this morning for the Manhattan Ash-throated Flycatcher have so far failed to find the bird. In addition to looking around the soccer fields in Fort Washington Park where it was seen yesterday, two of us walked south to West Harlem Piers Park at W 125th Street searching along the way to no avail. It is worth noting that a Myiarchus flycatcher was seen by Nate O’Reilly at the southwest corner of the Inwood Hill Park ballfields a few days ago (about 35 blocks north of the Fort Washington Park ballfields). If this was the same bird, it would suggest quite a wide ranging individual, so anyone looking for it might want to check points north and south along the Hudson River greenway.
