Rob, was that really necessary adding the phoebe ID comment. He wasn't sure
when he took the photo, noted the differing color plumage & said so. It sure
got you & the others there. Go easy on less experienced birders than yourself!
You've seen years of various flycatchers.

It’s worth noting that it was called a phoebe.

Re:[nysbirds-l] Ash-throated Flycatcher at Green-Wood Cemetery

2020-11-18 Thread Rob Jett
Just confirmed the Ash-throated Flycatcher at the Dell Water. It was
flycatching on the side of the pond where there are 3 in hill mausoleums. It
then flew to the opposite side by the bee hives.

[nysbirds-l] Western Tanager - YES

2020-11-18 Thread Rob Jett
Just got word that the Western Tanager in Green-Wood Cemetery is still present
as of a few minutes ago. If you go, park near Cypress and Vine Avenues. Look
for Vernal Path off of Cypress and walk towards the large mausoleum with two
tall blue spruces at its corners. The name is “Chas. T. Yerkes”. Walk around to
the back of it and scan the large yew tree at the left side. The bird is
foraging in the many yews in that area, but always seems to return here. Look
for fresh sapsucker holes as it is picking insects from them (and perhaps
drinking the sap).

Good birding,

Rob
