[nysbirds-l] MNSA, Oceanside -2nd yr Magnificent Frigatebird

2010-10-26 Thread Michael Farina
While on the Marine Nature Study Area's Hawkwatch during the 4-5hr a 2nd
year (Sibley) Magnificent Frigatebird was seen at 4:15p flying west to
east towards Jones Inlet. The winds at our location were SW to S all
day. The bird flew over our location with its characteristic black
narrow wings, and tail with its pure white breast and head. The bird
soared through with a few flaps, straight and non-stop, visible for less
then 2 minutes before losing it in the low cloud cover.
