[nysbirds-l] Central Park, April 23rd

2012-05-23 Thread David
Starr Saphir's group had 64 species including 19 warblers in Central Park
today. The Summit Rock area proved highly fruitful early on, with one tree
producing 13 warbler species including a female BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER. In
addition to the birds on Joe Dicostanzo's list we also had these highlights:

Green Heron (west shore of Lake)
Least Flycatcher (tree just south of Castle)
Eastern Kingbird (several)
Blue-headed Vireo (Ramble south of Castle, found by Lenore Swenson)
Gray-cheeked Thrush (Strawberry Fields)
Bay-breasted Warbler (Upper Lobe)
Blackburnian Warbler (Summit Rock, and male Tupelo Meadow)
Rose-breasted Grosbeak (female, King Jagiello statue)
