[nysbirds-l] Gyrfalcon(white) in Plattsburgh

2015-01-13 Thread Brian McAllister
Sorry for this late post...just getting to a computer. At 12:45pm
today(Tuesday) I saw a gyrfalcon(white) sitting on the ice at the mouth of the
Saranac River in Plattsburgh. It was observed for about 3-4 minutes then it
took off, circled over me(gaining altitude, flapping and gliding so I could see
pure white underside and black wingtips), then flew off to the south. I would
concentrate on looking along the shoreline from Plattsburgh south to
Ticondaroga over the next few days. There are concentrated areas of waterfowl &
gulls due to ice formation.Brian McAllisterSaranac LakeĀ
