[nysbirds-l] Gyrfalcon(white) in Plattsburgh
Sorry for this late post...just getting to a computer. At 12:45pm today(Tuesday) I saw a gyrfalcon(white) sitting on the ice at the mouth of the Saranac River in Plattsburgh. It was observed for about 3-4 minutes then it took off, circled over me(gaining altitude, flapping and gliding so I could see pure white underside and black wingtips), then flew off to the south. I would concentrate on looking along the shoreline from Plattsburgh south to Ticondaroga over the next few days. There are concentrated areas of waterfowl & gulls due to ice formation.Brian McAllisterSaranac LakeĀ -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
